Okay...i've just recently been getting this problem...and i dont know why...my nero is really starting to tick me off here...in 2 days...i've wasted 5 disks...burning dvd and games...well when i burn my games i get a message saying its sorting files and generating boarders blah blah blah...and then a error msg pops up saying burn process failed at 4x...now also...i used DVD shrink to compress the movie (star wars episode I) and then all goes well and then it uses nero to burn...and i get the same error message...please help! I am using Pine 4x DVD+R's and the original disk is CLEAN...now could anything be wrong with my burner?
i was gonna say post your nero log, but then i saw the dreaded pine media. i need to do a search to confirm my crap media sensor is working correctly
could you post your Nero log (without the serial number-that's the big one in the beginning of the log)? Log is located in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log and it is a continuous listing of all burns good or bad so try to sort through and find the one that errored out, then post here and we will try to help you out a little better. Usually problems like this revolve around media issues.
But the thing is...this is only happening to me recently...i've used over 50 pine disks and they work good Here is a log...first one is DVD Shrink then nero...last one is just nero burning the movie's dvd files Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero API version: 6.6.0.12 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 12c Recorder: <ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12> Version: B3C7 - HA 2 TA 1 - 6.6.0.12 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 2 Drive buffer : 8192kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B atapi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 atapi Port 2 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG SP1203N atapi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 4 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B H: CDRom0 ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 I: CDRom1 AXV CD/DVD-ROM J: CDRom2 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 66060288 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 447MB (458224kB) Free physical memory: 133MB (136284kB) Memory in use : 70 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 2.6.2005 NeroAPI 5:01:55 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation started 5:01:55 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 5:01:55 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files sorted 5:01:55 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 5:01:55 PM #5 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 running 5:01:55 PM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 5:01:55 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:01:55 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3293 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:01:55 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3153 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 5:10:06 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 260 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB) 5:10:06 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 272 Write in overburning mode: NO 5:10:06 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2339 Recorder: ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12, Media type: DVD+R 5:10:06 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 438 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Insert empty disc to write to. - 'fraid that's the problem with non-brand name media, inconsistent quality - see the 2 links in my signature for proof - close more background processes and get more RAM when you can. You are close to using virtual memory, ie your hard disc will be 'swapping' as virtual memory is a portion of hard disc, and you don't want swapping while you try to do DVD's - check if your firmware is out of date. I believe you drive is a rebadged Benq DW822A - have a look here for info - http://dvdpro.club.st/firmware/BENQ_FW.htm - the 4482MB is the edge of the disc, the 4465MB is how much data you're trying to write to the disc. Far too close to edge of those questionable discs. In DVD Shrink's preferences, set this to say 4300MB. I have this permanently set to 4300MB regardless of media used. - your drive don't like that disc - splat! '(KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)' - yup, you guessed it yup
Hmmm...what do u mean by inconsistent quality...lol big noob over here! Using firefox while burning...used alot of memory When i bought my dvd burner...it came with a thing so i can upgrade my firmware...so it should be good...and also...that site confuses me...lol Thank you! =) Thats when i forgot to take out the original disk...lol Yeah...when i was reading my log...i was like "thats the problem" how did that happen?! Damn nero!!!
See the links in my signature for explanations of using lots of the same media doesn't mean it's always going to give good results, ie it's inconsistent quality. You need better media methinks. Keep us posted with your progress..
Well thanks everyone, i read another way to burn using DVD shrink and DVD decryptor...burn image file onto computer...compress/encode with dvd shrink and burn with DVD decryptor...and it worked for me...thanks for all your help!
Okay well i'll stop using Pine...since its garbage...lol Are Ritek/Ridata good? heee is a link http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=DV5004 and for an extra %5.00...i can get 8x...should i?
Oh and also...i used burning for DVD's AND Ps2 games... So which is better to buy...DVD-R's...or DVD+R's?
and i prefer to not comment on + or - formats , i always get it wrong , but other ppl always explain it better than me
