Well i just saw in a store a cable that you just connect into your modem or router and it hooks into your XBOX so you can play online. Well it was just a regular phone line connection it seemed and since i have some at home i didnt buy it. If i connected my XBOX to my high-speed cable modem would it work? Would it be free or would i have to pay a special XBOX live fee?

U r talking about the Cat5 cable which is a lil bigger than a phoneline which u will use to network u're XB(u can not use a regular phone line on u're XB.Xbox live is not free. It's better if u use a router.

Well the cable said that all you need is the plug in... Are you sure it would still cost even connecting the cable into my cable modem?

It doesn't matter what brand of cable u use. Try to log on the XB live and see what it says.As far as i know Xbox live is NOT free.

That's all u need to plug in your Xbox to your router to get on line but did it say anything else after that?

Im pretty sure it didnt say anything else other than that cable connected to a modem or router could get you to XBOX live... maybe the directions wanted to mislead you into thinking that thats all you need to connect to XBOX live but i dont know. It also had a cable to link up two XBOX's for multiplayer...

Actually you can play XBOX online for free.

go to www.google.com and type in Xbox Connect, then click on the first link, this will take you to the XBC site, then proceed to download their program.

What it doe: You know how you can link xbox's up and play head to head or whatever? Well this does a world wide system link. It supports up to 16 players (like Xbox live) and lets you play any game type or whatever, it's the exact same as a system link. And the best part of it is...it's free!

If you ever need any help, after you download it, add me to your friends list, my SN is SteveMiller and my game name is A Dickless Man.

Oh, what I forgot to add was, you MUST have a router.

This is how it works: You must have high speed, so have your ethernet plugged into computer, and have that wire in the router. Then take another high speed wire (system link cords work just as well) and plug that into the router, then into your xbox. You must have Xbox Connect running in order to join games, and make sure you are in System Link, not split screen.
