I have a 30GB hard drive and its very hard to keep alot of free space. What I want to know is if theres anyway to get ridof some of the unused space on my hard drive.Help me please! Any information will be greatly appreciated. thanx. Andrew C.
you want free space not get rid of it. also windows uses part of hd as a temp swap file space. run ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ to cleanout windows temp, cookies, temporary intenet & other such folder.could get a bigger hd but still keep the 30gig for windows & such & the bigger hd for storage.
ddp, i just got ccleaner via your link here, its really good, thanks.. got me nearly half a gig of space from crap! How does this prog rate against the disk cleanup utilty in XP? should i use ccleaner instead of disk cleanup or as well as? i also run Defrag on my hard drive once a week, whether it needs one or not, i was advised to do this when i got the PC.. is that wise?
could still use disk cleanup but ccleaner also fixes issues in the registry like obsolete files & such. how much stuff you put on or take off a week might determine whether to do it weekly or longer but no longer than once a month. i do virus scan, spyware scan, scan disk & defrag usually on weekends as i use this computer to work on customers' computers so don't need to load a virus from mine to theirs
