    Hi,

I bought a 5006 from Radio Shack the other day and it has the tuner hum that has been often commented upon. Is there any solution in the offing (other than jacking an external tuner through the AV inputs)?

    Thanks,

    Jim

I had this problem just yesterday, but I upgraded to digital cable today , and run coaxial thru the cable box, and then audio / video cables from the cable box to the dvd recorder and seemed to be just fine now.. im sure thats not the answer you wanted, but just my input.. GL

I had a similar problem and took the recorder back and exchanged it for another one. The second recorder worked better. It seems lite on dvd recorders have lousey tuners. The video even shakes at times. I'm using regular cable, not digital, and that may make a difference. I also found using a tuner from a vcr makes for a better looking and sounding recording.

    1. The LiteOn/ILO tuners are MONO
    2. Almost all LiteOn made recorders have a hum in the tuner.

Best bet is to use an external stereo tuner (VCR,cable box)into the rear AV inputs. Don't use the front AV inputs as they also have a hum issue.
