Okay... I bought my PSP this morning at a local Gamestop, along with Ridge Racers and no accessories.. As soon as I got home, I plugged the PSP in for charging... I went digging through the box and found the the headphones, case, etc.. but no USB to PSP cord... Do I have to buy this to play/connect to the internet?... I have a wireless router but i dont know cr@p about playing online with PSP.. are there any tutorials or anything or an explanation?.. Thanks a lot, in advanced, guys :)..
EDIT: do i have to buy this? http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=801956

Sadly NO the psp does NOT come with the usb cable.
You have 2 buy it seperately. The usb cable is used to put
MOVIES, PHOTOS, MUSIC and hopefully soon GAMES.
U need 2 create a connection on your psp!!!!!!!
Go 2 "settings" then "network settings" then " make new connection"
When your done it will ask you 2 test connection........ hopefully it will work.

It's the same USB cable that comes standard with every digital camera and most MP3 players. You probably already have this cable around the house. DO NOT pay more than $5 for one if you need one. Also, your PSP has WiFi built in. You can connect to the internet that way without a cable.

In order to use the Internet you'll need an 802.11a,b,g or n Router, PCI Card (for a PC), and or a Wireless Access Point. Nothing less will cut it! unless you can deal with ADHOC Mode. Which I can't.
As far as the theme of Browsers go. The PSP v2.0 has a built on Browser. However you can get just about as much use out of the Tenchi Browser, on a v1.50.
If you have any hopes to ever run Homebrew and or ISO's you DO NOT WANT TO RUN THE NETWORK UPDATE!! As it'll install either the PSP v2.01 or v2.50 on your PSP. Both DO NOT CURRENTLY ALLOW YOU TO RUN HOMEBREW OR ISO's! If your PSP is already a v1.5 or a v1.5x to 2.0 you can still downgrade back to v1.5 and run just about anything ya like....

AFAIK; The $oNY's Sevice is Free unlike say Mico$ofts XBOX Live!™ Service. Then again if you want to link up with other People on the 'Net I'd recomend Xlink Kai! And that is definetly Free!!

What are you asking for? No the Internet is not a Gift to you! You generaly have to pay like €31.80(EUR) for a aDSL 1000/128 Line. (your Price / Bandwith may vary),. If your asking would you have to pay more for it because you have inaffect Two Computers on your account. The answer is simple....
DON'T TELL YOUR ISP! AND USE THE ICS FEATURES IN WINDOWS XP!
Most normal ISP's probably wouldn't care. But, if your on RoadRunner (TimeWarner), they'd probably want to cahrge you more. Otherwise, no you shouldn't have to pay extra to use your PSP on the 'Net.
BTW Good luck getting your PSP to even display www.nfl.com! Given that a) The PSP DOES NOT SUPPORT FLASH!
b) Most Websites are tailord to IE as anyone whos tryed to buy anyting off of Crapster / Musicload.de could tell you. (i.e. Hates Opera & Firefox),. The point is the Website is not formated to fit the PSP's Screen.
c) No real Java support either, just Java Script, which is not the same thing as Java itself.
But, I suspect both a) and b) will be enough to kill your dreams of www.nfl.com on the PSP...

Alright friend listen. First Tell us what update is on your psp (firmware) As this will help us alot. Second, You said you had a wireless router right? Well read above he gave you instructions on how to set it up go to connection and make a new connect go to search and see if your psp picks up your wireless router/modem. If it does then go to Easy setup and it should set it up for you. Now depending on what firmware you have, If you have 2.0, 2.1, or 2.5 then you can use the internet browser on your psp. Fair warning as above DO NOT UPDATE PAST 2.0!!! Unless you really have alot of money and dont mind having a crappy psp. Hence if you have 2.0 you'll be able to downgrade and get *Cough* Legal backups of your games *Cough* Yeah, so anyways, That's pretty much it about Xlink Kai, It pretty much sucks. I've found a few games that you can usually find people playing on psp that include World series of poker, Fifa Soccer, and NBA 2k6.. < I belive it's 2k6 cant remember. But anways I dont know bout ridge racer as i will check tommarow when I get up and see if you can just connect with people easy enough on there Like you do with some of the others. I hope I helped you even a little bit if not please give us some more infomration to work on I'm sure many people are willing, G'luck

Like the other guy said use the Network Configuration on / in your PSP Settings to Easy! That should cover you.
Now in order to actually use it! You'll need either a 802.11a,b,g or n Wireless Router or at the very least a 802.11a,b,g or n Wireless Access Point that connects to the the Interet either directly (if possible!), or though another 802.11a,b,g or n PCI Card in your PC, which you can set to use the Internet Conection Shareing functions of your Operating System.
The DNS that your having problems with, If I'm not tlaking outa my Arse! (I'm by no means an expert I plan to take my first plunge into the World of 802.11a,b,g, or n. Next Payday (ca. Nov 1st.),. But unless I miss my guess, the DNS address requested by the PSP should be the same as that of your 802.11a,b,g or n Router. (i.e. 192,168.xxx.xxx, or something like that the Subnet would normaly be 255.255.255.0), But again I agree with the prior Poster here. You'r probably best off useing the simple 'Easy' Setup function on the PSP.
The only other thing I could suggesst is to either set your Router / Access Point to allow the MAC Address of your PSP to your Network. You might also want to make sure that you only have WEP as opposed to WAP (IS that correct?), Allthough I thought I read that PSP v2.5 is starting to suuport that stronger Encription Method. But be it as it may, it should be needless to say if your going to use WEP or WAP (or what the Heck ever!), you should probably enter such Key(s), into the Network Cofiguration Settings on the PSP aswell....

ok you dont need wipeout pure if you have 2.0 or higher all you need is a current dsl or cable internet connection and a wireless router that can be purchased at best buy or circuit city then connect the wireless router to your current internet connection then on your psp go to network settings then infrastructure then new connection and so on

If I dont have Tenchi Browser, how do I go to google, yahoo, etc... with my Wipeout Pure game? I have my PSP connect to Wipeout Pure homepage. And there are only 2 options on that web: Home and Download. I cant figure it out how to go to google or yahoo.
If so, I have to have Tenchi browser in order to surf to webs. Can anyone give more info. Thanks.
