So it is mandatory to have a mod chip installed? A few questions then, a mod chip is only 30 dollars I think, and all you need are some good wires and a good 40 watt soldering iron. However, I'm not familiar with getting to the mobo, and if I do, i can easily install it because I've worked with soldering irons for a while. Does someone know of a website that shows you how to get to the mobo? For example, there is a ribbon that connects those two "eject" and "reset" buttons to something deep inside of it. When I first tried this a year ago I accidentely touched that ribbon and the PS2 went dead. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

It is not mandatory to have a mod chip put in your PS2. Get the flip top case and the magic swap disc set and that is all you need. Well, besides the DVD burner, the dvd's, and the free download of DVD Decrypter. It is awesome!!! I wasnt sure of this until I checked out the posts on this site and everyone was right on the money. I got mine at www.customps2.com . Great service and fast shipping. Thanks Afterdawn members and Afterdawn.com for you nice forum. It was really helpful!!!!!!!

Not sure man. I have never done it that way. I do know that if you download the free DVD Decrypter from their website. Once downloaded, Go to mode menu, then do a ISO read and a ISO write. That is it!!!!

if you have both try them both i would try dvd-r first as they will let you burn at a slower speed if they dont work try +R

Hi guys,
This is my first time here...Prior to this I have been able to find all my answers just reading what other people have posted, but now I need a little help - well I need a question answered really. I followed "hiredgoon's" easy instructions on copying PS2 games with DVD Decrypter. (I am using version 3.5.1.0) Only when I go to do the write bit and select the iso file a message comes up saying "You should have selected the MDS file and not this one. I'll do it for you this time, but don't do it again!" Should I be selecting the iso or mds file? The mds file is only 5KB and the iso file is 2,606,304KB.
Can anyone shed a little light on this for me please??
Cheers

Thanks for that Wayne_T. I thought that might be the case but got confused because everyone seems to talk about the iso file. Thanks again :)
