i seem to get three files after converting (000, 001, AND 002) and then when i write it at the end only a tiny section of the disc seems to have been taken up despite the fact that the file sise should be too large to fit on the damn disc! what am i doing wrong!?

2) EXTRACT THE FILES FROM THE ISO IMAGE.
a) CREATE A NEW FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE TO STORE THE
EXTRACTED FILES.
b) OPEN ISO BUSTER AND CLICK ON FILE > OPEN IMAGE FILE.

Here's my problem. I am attempting to make a backup copy of Mercenaries. My FAT32 drives in Windows 98SE will not allow a file to be more than 4 GB in size. DVD Decrypter makes three files..

1_02.i00 4,194,302KB
1_02.i01 392,266KB
1_02.mds 5KB

Which of these files am I supposed to open in step 2b?

In case anyone wants to know...I solved the problem myself. If you are a user of the FAT32 running into the same problem, just use the .mds file in step 2b.

Folks,
I'm at my wits end and have about 10 new coasters - I may actually start selling them on ebay - "Designer wasted DVDR coasters!".

I cannot get CDVDGEN to work AT ALL. It starts, looks good, but when I try to drag the files and folders into the right side of its window - It crashes!!! :-/ I have tested it, and it seems to crash when I drag in the folders that I have extracted using ISOBuster.
I have searched High and low but there is no mention of this problem anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am using Windows XP SP2.

Thanks in advance,
Shanncan

Hi, i tried this and it worked until step four. About that one i have a question: After step 3 the cdvdgen created four files (star.000/star.001/star.002/star.003). Can i merge them also into a iso image or do i have to merge only .000 and .001?

Hi,

I'm trying to backup The Rumble Fish. So far I've used IsoBuster which works, but when i try to record using CDVDGEN, i get the "too short location length.(less than 6000000 sector)" like scoops001, but i have copied all 7 files before...
Also, i can't find a SLUS number, the only files with numbers are the IOPRP300.IMG file and SLPM_659.19, which i assume i use the latter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Winning 11. Great & easy-to-follow instructions. I finally managed to back-up Star Wars Battlefront. Thank you.

Three things though:

1) When should this method be used: when discs are over 4gig, when SwapMagicFix recommends a CD fix? Is there a reason why discs over 4gig are a problem (other than over 4.7gb ofcourse)

2) When I followed your instructions, I was left with 3 Star files insetad of 2 (Star.000, Star.001 & Star.002). I still managed to get the game working by merging all 3 files at Step#4 - COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 + STAR.002 STAR.ISO AND THEN HIT ENTER.
Out of interest, why did I get 3 files?

3) The finsished STAR.ISO file was almost 1/2 smaller than the original disc. Why is this?
3) The final STAR.ISO files was approx 1/2 size of the original

1. I use it for games over 4gigs, because they usually contain dummy files to fill the disc and therefore cause problems.

2. Always merge all the files you get together.

3. This method is meant to make the iso smaller because the original iso contains uneccesary files to make it harder to burn.

thanks for explanation.

One final thing:

Is this re-building approach an alternative to using CD fixes from SwapMagicFix? It's just that SwapMagic advises using a CD in addition to the back-up disc for Swars B'Front (i.e. burning a CDR with coqloader).

Regards,

Gerard

Hello I am trying to back up my copy of Mercenaries using this technique, I am having trouble downloading the WNASPI32.DLL file. When I go to download it I get the message that says windows cannot open the file and it asks me if I want to use the web or select from a list. The recommended program is WinZIP so I tried to open with that but I get this error WinZIP cannot open file, does not appear to be a valid archive, can someone please help me with this!!!!

If you back up a game and use swap magic to boot it, can you use action replay? What i mean is, will you be able to use the cheats on action replay with your backed up games?

Winning please help!!! I am sure that all my files are in my C drive but I am still getting that same error. The files I have since I started trying to burn mercenaries is STAR.IML, STAR.ims, STAR.000, STAR.LST, and STAR. 001, when I type COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 STAR.ISO, I get a message that says: The system cannot find the file specified. I dont understand why I this will not work for me, I also tried COPY/B and all those STAR files but I still got the same error. Is their another way of doing this, can u please help me????
