    One other thing I would like to mention is Post etiquette. Since it is impossible to view facial or body expressions within text I usually use a <G> or a :) to show that my post is in good humor and not to be taken as sarcastic.

    hi everyone. i am a real newbie in terms of only owning a comp for 6 mths. had loads of probs until i found afterdawn. i think the prob ly's in the fact that the word newbie implies that that person is young so therefore tends to get some veryshort replys ie. search and read. i am 63 so luckily for me i did just that, but i did find that when i did ask a question even though it was trivial to some, i found everyone was answered in good heart. so i applaud you all and the site in general. i was directed to an affiliated site by a member and found it was so eletist and derogetory to me, that i will never return to it or reccomend it to any of my friends. so stay pretty much as you are. best wishes. geoff

    I'd also like to welcome to AD, Geoff. We all love to see new names become familiar ones (except pulsar, I wish he'd go away ;P)

    I take it your nick refers to the type of fish called gurnards?

    [bold]Gurnard.[/bold] Any of a group of coastal fish that creep along the sea bottom with the help of three fingerlike appendages detached from the pectoral fins.

    I hope your name isn't from that definition :)

    @gurnard

    63 huh, glad to see someone else close to my age (I'll be 62 next month), to help with these young'uns. Welcome to the forum. I have only been here a couple of months and it is very addictive -- lot of really smart people here.
