Even though I did not start this thread - I wanted to thank all the info you all added - I actually have a lightscribe burner but have never used it *L* Bought new disks and all - just never got around to it - Thanks to you all's info - you may have saved me from buying a label-printing printer when I probably already have what I need
gwendolin, thanks for the information. What software do you use to print to the DVD? How much do you pay for your ink cartridges? Have you ever used http://www.cdcovers.cc/dvd_b.php for movie covers? Thanks again
Printing prog came with printer. Usually I download images from google, edit if necessary and then print....takes about 30 secs to print...instant drying. I havent had to buy new cartridges as yet. No I have never used that site for covers. Hey thanks just checked out that site, its great, will definately be using that one from now on!!
gwendolin, are you talking about printing DVD labels on to paper or directly to the DVD? When I got my Canon Pixama 6000 I nearly died when Fry's Electronics wanted $13.95 per cartridge. Mine takes 6 colors. I finally found generic cartridges for $.99 each. They work perfectly. I usually buy $50.00 at a time to get fre shipping. Take a look at their website. http://megatoners.com/canon.html
tashacat: you sure they are the same quality? I too would be interested in getting them alot cheaper, they are 11+ here at compusa .99 cents sounds alot better to me!
I have a Canon s-900 and the Canon Pixima 6000 and have been using them for at least 2 years. I have been very happy with the cartridges.
@tashacat, the printer I have prints directly onto the actual DVD disc, cannot tell its not an original.
@tashacat, unfortunately it didnt have a manual, only an install cd...yep it has a "how to do it" I think. I am based in Aus and dont know aboit availability of printer in other countries. It has a small tray at bottom where disc is inserted for printing, also excellent printer for photos etc. Also you can plug your digital camera direct...no comp. required.

@ gwendolin: actually your slightly wrong the ink isnt dry around the inside of the disc and it takes 2.23 minutes to dry properly after it is ejected I have an IP4000 As for a manual: Thank you for using CD-LabelPrint. CD-LabelPrint is a label printing software designed specifically for CD-R Direct Printing. The various tools allows for easy, yet original, designs to be printed directly to CD-R media. Um the manual is a bit big to copy but heres a list of the help topics which come with the software:
Yep the iP4000 seems to be the go, I find it really great@andmer did you check out the web site for covers http://www.cdcovers.cc/dvd_b.php it was given to me last night...very professional covers, already used one.
I bought an LG lightscribe burner and am happy with it. It does take some time to print the label. 30 minutes is average, the shortest time was 21 minutes for me so far. I have only done 10 lightscribes so far. Best Buy just recently had a 10 pack of Verb lightscribes for $8.00 each. That makes them .80 a disc which isnt too bad. No ink to dry or replace. The image comes out as in ScubaPetes example. Silkscreen quality. I get my images from either www.cdcovers.cc , or i scan the original disc with my flatbed scanner. I like the looks of the inkjet printable discs better than the lightscribes, but that is just because the inkjets are in full color. If the cost of Lightscribe discs can be kept to under a buck or so, then they are the way to go for me. I got an LG lightscribe burner to replace my memorex and i am very happy with the drive and discs. I guess it all comes down to personal choice and costs. You dont have the ink replacement cost of an inkjet in the lightscribe (my hp ink cost 50 bucks for color and black ink), but media costs a little bit more, and it takes longer to print. I also wonder if you decrease the useable life of the burner, as you are firing the laser for burning and printing. These lightscribe labels come out much better than i am capable of printing, so they are worth it for me. I only use the LS discs on worthy movies, everything else can go on a Ty DVD+R. If i were typing from home, i would include a scan of LS discs, but they don't look any better than the one ScubaPete posted. Something you can't see in a 2D picture is these discs have sort of a hologram effect when looking at them and varying the angle of viewing. A LS capable burner can be had for 50-100 bucks or so.
@ gwendolin: i had been using that site for when i had a printer that copied on to paper, think about 2 years. Its one of the best if not the best site on the net for covers.
@andmerr I was only given that site last night, up until then I had to make my own from google although I got a good lable they weren't as good. Which site do you use now? Who's your pick for the cup on tuesday??
unsure on a cup favorite yet but as to the labels you will find the one you use now to be the best.Covers all game consoles, dvds etc.I use this one that you are now using.
you'd be talking the diva????????????? yeah probably Just having small talk until this topic reheats up
(GWEN) Hmmm I went to that site you linked (cdcovers) I picked a "cd" so I could try to DL and try out my lightscribe w/ it - but there is no no download link - or I should say - I did not see it - the picture of the cover came up though - I was trying to get Robots ------------------------- WAIT a sec - I found some FAQ's - Isee what my choices are now. Do you find one way or the other any better ? i.e. Just copying and pasting or utilizing the program that you can drag it in ? I know the program suppossedly lets you make some adjustments if you want. Maybe I will try both ways and see if either will suit me.
hey there zhelpz, what you need to do is this: 1.after you have selected the cover you want, right click it and save it to your hadr drive.Once it is on your hard drive then you can print it out. See image provided: andmerr
