@bm_coach - Sorry, don't have a solution for the 99% prob. Mabye download apache2 again. Or use Nero.

@2kwic - People have trouble with matrix, and rebuilding it works for them so if they want to rebuilt it, let them, they won't listen to you because its a 1 positive result for matrix. But how bout all the people who haven't been able to back it up normally like you did?? Just let them rebuild, don't make it harder than it is, they spend good money for the disc which they waste because they try backing up normally because someone says It works if you back it up normally.. Peace Out

@crewzin - search up on google, youll probally be abe to download that .dll

i suppose people won't listen and if they choose to rebuild, which is unnecessary it's thier problem. people, i wont say this again, the reason why it dont work is because you are downloading a bad ISO thats why it dont work, get the orignal image and burn that, dont waste your DVD R's trying to burn a bad ISO. and btw it's a great game, the combat system is very good.

2kwic, first thanks for your offer.

I tryed to make a back-up three times.

The first was straith on with DVD-decrypter (make a ISO-file and burn it). With all my other games this works.

Second, i used the method explain by 3dluis? Buth, with Apache 2, i haved a problem. The ISO-building freezes at 99%. When trying to burn the ISO-file with DVD-decrypter, i've got the message that the file is to large. When trying to burn the ISO-file with Nero, i've got the same message (larger than 2 GB).

The last method, sorry i've forget, buth the last step was with Nero DVD-ROM 5UDF-ISO)).

Every time a started the game on the PS of my youngest son, the result was only the view of the starting window of the matrix.

I use DVD-R - 8x - i both it at www.dvdmonaco.com. - it works for my other back-ups.

I burned always on the lowest speed.

The game is not a DL one.

When i follow your tutorial i get up to where i have to use apache2 and when i import the IML file and then build the ISO it kind of freezes at 99%.
The reason why i said that it kind of freezes is because the ISO image it creates continuesly get larger and larger it became 6.8GB before i cancled it.

How can i fix this?
Im copying from the original PAL DVD.

I have also tried just copying the original ISO without rebuild but it just stayed on the green matrix loading screen.

I have also tried rebuilding the original ISO and burnt with Nero but it said not valid PS2 Disk when i put in in the PS2. I put the files on correct order when i put them in Nero but Nero automaticly sorted the files by name which is why it screwed up i couldnt find a way to sort the files how i wanted to the only other options were by size, type and date created.

I need help burning this game as you can see ive tried 3 logical ways of burning but with no sucsess.
If anyone can give me help with the problem im having with APACHE2 or if anyone can help me with Nero your help would be apreciated.

Ok bmcoach & anthony05 if you really want the game that bad then i guess you can do it the old school way with rebuilding it's the same way but you have to use DOS TO BUILD THE ISO i really don't like to rebuild this way but if your having problems with apache building your ISO then do it this way STEP BY STEP and it should work with no problems

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR COPYING STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT AND ARE BASED UPON THE PROCEDURE SUPPLIED BY ANDREW EARLIER IN THIS THREAD.

YOU MUST HAVE DVD Decrypter, CDVDGEN, AND ISOBUSTER INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER.

1) COPY THE PS2 GAME DVD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE AS AN ISO IMAGE.
a)OPEN DVD Decrypter.
b)IN THE DESTINATION AREA, CLICK ON THE FOLDER ICON TO CHOOSE BOTH A NAME AND A STORAGE LOCATION FOR THE ISO IMAGE.
c)CLICK ON MODE > ISO > READ.
d)CLICK ON THE DVD ICON TO START THE PROCESS.
e)WAIT UNTIL THE PROCESS IS FINISHED THEN CLOSE DECRYPTER AND GO TO STEP 2.

2) EXTRACT THE FILES FROM THE ISO IMAGE.
a) CREATE A NEW FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE TO STORE THE
EXTRACTED FILES.
b) OPEN ISO BUSTER AND CLICK ON FILE > OPEN IMAGE FILE.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE ISO FILE CREATED IN STEP 1 AND CLICK ON “OPEN”.
d) HOLD THE CONTROL KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND LEFT CLICK
EVERY FILE AND FOLDER IN THE LIST.
e) ONCE ALL THE FILES ARE HIGHLIGHTED, RIGHT CLICK ON ONE OF THEM AND CLICK ON “EXTRACT OBJECTS”.
f) NAVIGATE TO THE NEW FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR
HARD DRIVE AND CLICK “OK”.
g) WAIT FOR THE PROCESS TO FINISH THEN CLOSE ISOBUSTER.

3) CONVERT THE EXTRACTED FILES INTO 2 BIN FILES.

a) OPEN CDVDGEN.
b) SELECT “CREATE NEW PROJECT” AND THEN SELECT “DVD-ROM
MASTER DISC”. DRAG CDVDGEN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR
SCREEN.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR HARD
DRIVE BACK IN STEP 2 AND OPEN IT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN.
d) SET THE WIDTH OF THAT WINDOW SO THAT IT IS ONLY 1 FILE WIDE. THIS WILL PLACE THE FILES INTO THE SAME ORDER AS THEY WERE ON THE GAME DISK BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK THEM FOR CORRECT ORDER JUST IN CASE.
e) CLICK ON EDIT > SELECT ALL.
f) DRAG ALL THE FILES INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CDVDGEN.
g) LOOK FOR A SLUS OR SLES FILE AND WRITE DOWN THE FULL NAME AND THEN CLICK ON THE “VOLUME” TAB IN CDVDGEN.
h)TYPE SLUS OR SLES (WHICHEVER YOUR FILE NAME IS) INTO THE 1ST BOX NEAR "DISC NAME"
i) TYPE ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM YOUR FILE NAME, WITHOUT THE PERIOD, INTO THE 2ND BOX.
j) TYPE PLAYSTATION FOR THE PRODUCER NAME AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE AREA.
k)CLICK ON "REC...".
l)SELECT YOUR DESIRED STORAGE LOCATION AND NAME THE FILE STAR.IML
m)YOU WILL GET 2 ERRORS, JUST CLICK OK FOR BOTH.
n)THE RECORDING SCREEN WILL POP UP, CLICK ON FILE > EXPORT IMAGE AND SAVE IT ON ONE OF YOUR HARD DRIVES (NOT IN A FOLDER) NAME IT STAR.LST
o) WHEN IT'S FINISHED, YOU WILL HAVE FILES NAMED STAR.000-STAR.00*
p)CLOSE CDVDGEN AND GO TO STEP 4.

4) MERGE ALL THE STAR.000-STAR.00* FILES INTO A SINGLE ISO IMAGE.
THE EASIEST WAY TO MERGE THE FILES IS FROM A COMMAND SCREEN.
YOU WON'T HAVE TO INSTALL AN EXTRA PROGRAM THAT MAY NEED
EXTRA FILES TO WORK AND COME ON, ADMIT IT, DOS IS SO MUCH FUN!!
a)CLICK THE WINDOWS START BUTTON AND CLICK ON RUN.
b)TYPE CMD IN THE BOX AND HIT ENTER.
c)CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO MATCH WHERE YOUR STAR.000-STAR.00*
FILES ARE STORED.
EXAMPLE- IF THEY ARE ON THE C DRIVE, TYPE CD C:\ AND HIT ENTER.
IF THEY ARE ON ANOTHER DRIVE, TYPE THE DRIVE LETTER WITH A COLON AND HIT ENTER.
d)ONCE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DIRECTORY-
TYPE COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 + STAR.002 + STAR.003 star.iso AND THEN HIT ENTER.
e)WHEN IT'S FINISHED YOU WILL HAVE A NEW ISO IMAGE NAMED STAR.ISO THAT YOU CAN NOW BURN.

But make sure you Merge all the star.000 files together. It may take longer but hey it works

Apache2 has always gone to 100% for me but, you could use a alternative which is just like Apache. Use IML2ISO the program. Try searching google for it

Thanks anyway for your help, buth i've have now 4 not working back-ups and there are oter values in live than making a back-up of pon (path of neo).

Just adding some info that confirms what most members have said:

1) PON PAL version DOESNT work on a direct ISO burn.

2) Apache2 gets stuck at 99% and I'm not going to try Nero, the DOS version or any other iso rebuilding program; it takes too long.

Maybe there's some special copy protection on the PAL version that
doesn't allow a backup of PAL PON to work on SM 3.6??

so how come i was able to burn the game with iso read/iso write using DVD Decrypter? i have swap magic 3.6 and a slim and it worked perfectly.

2kwic has the same setup as me, yet he was able to read the iso too.

i think some people are not doing this properly, thats my oppinion.

In Reply to question 1. Hate to say it but i told you so.
In Reply to Question 2. Apache2 doesnt get stuck for me.
In Reply to the last sentence. THERE IS NO COPY PROTECTION. I bought a PAL path of neo in UK and rebuilt and burned and it works perfectly.

Ive rebuilt dozens of games with no problems.
And i followed there steps word for word but i dont know what must of gone wrong.

The best ive done is direct copy and that got me to the loading screen.
I have swap magic 3.3 im burning at 2x on TDK DVD+R (my ps2 backups work best on +R media)

EDIT:

Ive finally got a working copy.
I used gnie's iso rebuilder tool.

Try the first link first because im hosting it at a free file site. The second link is a direct download from a website so try not to use it unless the first one is down.

1. http://www.savefile.com/files/9958278
OR
2. http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar

Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.

1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.

Make sure you do it in that order.

This worked for me when every other way failed.
It is very easy to do so even the noobies should be able to do it.
Keep in mind im backing up the PAL version, but if your having trouble backing up with NTSC then i dont see a problem trying.
Good luck.

yep anthony05, i've made it. I've used your method and it works. Buy the way, do not burn the new ISO with Decrypter, because the back-up works will now freesing moments. After burning the new ISO with Nero (UDF), there is no problem with the back-up. Thanks again to everyone who helped me out.
