Before doing anything, Copy everything on Partition 3 and 4 to PC.

They are important.

Files = xboxdash-modded.xbe, org-xboxdash.xbe, msdash.xbe, items.xml, items.txt, evox.ini, Config.xml, evoxdash.xbe, keymapping-francais.txt, keymapping-english.txt, default.xbe, anodx.xml, changelog-francais.txt, changelog-english.txt, anodx-default-francais.xml, anodx-default-english.xml, contact.txt, xboxdash.xbe, Xbox.xtf, XBox Book.xtf

Folders = fonts-modded, AnodXData, Directory X, f0nts, AnOd-X_1.02.1_Full_English, Skins, Trainers, Skin, Langauges, SID, xboxdashdata.185ead00, xodash, fonts, Audio

ok tell me where i can get the whole MS dashboard b/c i may have the wrong one, i followed the RESTORE to MANUFACTURING thing and i dont think i have good files, I found the files thru your link on www.x-b-o-x.net site and i didnt get the Xbox book.xtf and Xbox.xtf files with it, i got a good freind that burned me a CD and i'm going to get it tommorow he says it has the files i need ill get back to you on wether not it works.

Ok i have the whole thing empty, (but im at school right now), my freind gave me his back up of the C: drive unmodded it has everything i need...

Xodash, Xboxdashdata, Audio, fonts, etc...

I place all this in partition 3 right?
Then 0-2 is empty and partition 4 has empty UDATA and TDATA folders?
If thats correct then when i get home ill use his back-up to replace the C: drive and place empty TDATA and UDATA folders in Partition 4, if not then correct me please.

Make that is a full clean MS dash.

Ok im sure it is, it has everything you said to replace Partition 3 with, and he says that its his backup before he modded so when i get home ill put it all on Partition 3 then put empty UDATA and TDATA folderes on Partition 4 and ill try it then get back to you. i have about 20 min left in this class i can look on the CD and tell you whats on it if you reply within like 5-10 minutes.... ok i g2g so ill talk more after i test it ill tell you if i cant get it to work and see what we can do... or if anything is wrong Later

I am into the Hard Drive and can see anything and i have a back up of the MS dash from my friend and im going to test it when i get home b/c i still have half a day of school left lol ill be posting what happens in a few hours after i get home and test it Shinnster

well I can say that TheReturn does know what he's on about as he spent lots of time helping me do a hot swap with mine so he is a trusted source :-)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...... The files i got from my freind i placed into Partition 3 and IT WORKS!!!, Damn im soooo happy... Now i want to thank you again for all your help and support Return., now i gotta fix this controller it keeps going to the right lol ima open it and see whats wrong.

So now you guys should beleive what I said on the title and in my tutorial of this thread.

Just found this thread and am glad to see that things worked.
A friend just dumped her broken softmodded xbox on me. Someone she knows did the mod and has now moved away and is unavailable for help.

The error 21, so I'll be trying this to see if I can also recover factory settings for her. I have never worked with an xbox before, so this should be fun.

I've been helping alot of people out there with this hotswap method. A lot of them have successed to fix their consoles.
