how do I truly tell if my GTA:LCS is patch or unpatch

i think that's the european release, the US 10041 release version has Region code "1", that box has region code "2". you should looked at the sidebar of the box and figure if its:
GTA: LCS (Non-Patched 2.6 version):
ULES-00151#
GTA: LCS (Patched 2.6 Version):
ULES-00151#2
For the U.S version of the game:
GTA:LCS (Non-Patched Version): "Warning - Some New Releases Of this Version Is Patched"
ULUS 10041
2.6 Update - Patched
2.0 Update - Patched

But they say I have to look for another code below this no. right?

You can't tell on the U.S. version of packaging if its patched or not!!!! The numbers dont change on the package. Go to ebgames or gamestop and tell them you need to check the preowned ones before you buy, take your psp with you.

ok so you're in a win/suck situation once again, you'll probably wreck your psp and pull out all your hair if you buy another patched gta.
advice is, play the clerk, ask the clerk very FRIENDLY and nicely.
ask her if you can try out the game (bring your PSP).
tell her/him that if its the unpatched version you buy it straight away.
or if you just wanna downgrade, promise to pay her 500 pesos for just letting you use the game in less than 20 minutes (downgrade files should be ready of course, and plug power)
and tell him/her to pay 100 or 200 pesos if its the same PATCHED game.

I bought an unpathced version from the shop today, I live in the middle east so we get ULUS and ULES also, and I've actually tried and taken it. Many shops had many versions of GTA, but the one I took was ULES 100151#, the "#" you can only see on the UMD itself, the way to really tell if its unpatched in the European version is by the box, the serial, the update andthe UMD. The Euro UMD is black with 18 logo, that's 100% unpatched, the one withthe gun is doom!! I bought 2 copies earlier and they were patched. just try to get ULES 100151, its unpatched, the one I got was the one which couldn't sell because it had caught dust in the shop and no one wanted a dusty one, but it was packed and I got it fairly cheaper than the newer versions. I deserve it!! Haaa. lol. Just make a friend at a game store they must have try-out copy or something. You just need less than 5 minutes to do it!I did it at a friends shop but bought it anyway just to be sure to have a backup if it updates by mistake!

The store clerks were really strick bcoz of the no return policy that we have in our country!
I can't bribe one coz there are so many sales person, I think 4 on the counter & its awful!!!
As if they don't want any sales!!!

Based on this Yes!!! I have compared my umds w/ another user there! And the difference is very, extremely minute! The only difference we could find is when we started openning our UMDs & started looking for small printed & laser etched no.s!
But since you guys are from the united states. Any thing is possible!!! "Now your thinking w/ portals" lols!!!

Ive been looking for some time now for a unpatched version, with no avail.
I went to Game, Cex, Gamestation
i just as the chap straight out, he said all the preowned GTA are 2.6.
So im still waiting, as for ebay its a joke.

My gta:lcs umd has a red 18 circle on it and MA rating box ules00151 BUT it has 2.6 update
does that mean i can run the downgrader?

I have this version,its un-patched . . . i used the 303 hen . . . it worked for me!!! downgraded to 1.5 only thing is I can't play music on it . . . but I think the GTA with the black on it . . . its the european version. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ definetly works

The fool proof way to know if its the unpatched 2.00 version is to check the copyright date on the back of the case
the unpatched is copyright 2005

Ok ok new update to my PSP downgrade attempt
right so i was browsing on my psp and i came across my memory stick and decided to take a look and oh... whats this i see
PSP Network Config Backup
Cube Sample
IPIDumper
Kernel Dumper Sample
NandDumper
Polyphonic sample by Shrine
SystemParam
and....
PSP Update Ver X.YZ
of course i got really exicted thinking that i had actually done it so i pressed X it showed the PSP logo and the tingle sound... went to a black screen then....
The game could not be started.

Ok im pretty sure i have an unpatched version of LCS(copy right 2005,with the gun on top disc,ulus 10041 and updl 010050) now I have 2.81 firmware and its a ta-082 motherboard...my question is can I upgrade straight to 3.03 oe-c or do I have to update to 3.03 sony firmware and then downgrade from there...if so will there be any problems by straight upgrading beacuse my other psp was 2.71>1.50>3.03 oe-c but when i start a game the brightness goes to the lowest....Thankss in advance!!!!!

Anyways im pretty sure everything your asking has already been answered in these forums at one point or another. Try using the search option for this forum. Normally i would point you in the right direction or help you myself but im off to bed.
