Anyway, when i looked into the content of the ps2 game, i was surprised to see pretty much the same files (only different size), so i was wondering:
Can i possibly mod my backup of the ps2 version so i can play with my brand new Porsche Carrera 4S ?
I know the files get bigger when i change them so i have to stay in the "4.30Gb" but i'm sure it can work but does anyone did or tryed it? i don't want to put to much in the garbage.
Thank you.

Ok if you have the thick ps2 your ganna needa few things you have about 2 choices a mod chip to let you play copied games or some hard drive that has 40 GB allowing you to store games but they say they dont sell them anymore so try ebay or something. Now if you have a slim ps2 your in luck and its easier again a mod chip but your other choice would be swap magic 3 kit comes with a flip top cover a sawp magic disc and some tool to remove the disc swap magic allows you to play BACKUP GAMES. Oh and like those other guys said you need to install the files from GTA Sa onto your computer mod them there and burn them on to a writeable disc I prefer dvd-r since people say they get less proplems

Try asking for help in the Games for Windows forums or another trusty GTA modding forums such as gtaforums.com.
e deleted gta_1.img from models and when i put the disc on ps2 it loads but in the end it says that the disc "error reading gta san andreas disc

I have tried to mod it as i was very excited, i downloaded a total of 109 mods and turned out wrong. I viewed the disk with my PC and i saw many files.I saw a file that writes "Vehicle Mods". I put the file in and nothing happens when i run it, the car turns out to be the same.I have the disk for GTA SA PC version too but when i installed it, their were errors. I surfed the internet and saw how they did it but it never works for me even though i cracked it.I just need the RCON password.Someone help me ! My GTA SA PS2 i have reached the mission about the beach party.I almost passed it. Out of 4000 i scored 3998 !I just need help on the PS2 modding or how to download GTA SA PC.

This might be kind of strange reply but i think i found the solution, when i went to uninstall the mods it said there was something wrong with the handling file so i made it original and it was fixed so this might be what is wrong with yours so i think you should try it because it worked for me

You always have to un-check the read-only optionin the property box for the entire San Andreas folder.
Go to C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\ or wherever you installed SA to, right click the folder and select properties. In the box look at the bottom and unselect the option that says Read-Only. Then you have full access to modify SA.

I meant from a downloaded source (whole game from isohunt.com) or bought from the store, not just bought from the store. Of course it doesn't matter so long as it's a reliable place you dl it from.

well well well, seems not everyone get the point here, please allow me..
for PC you need the game, dont matter where you get it from as long as its working.
you can find the details on google and such.
but i recommend change files one at the time and run the game to make sure everthing works.
Example, to put 2 cars, change the files for one car then run the game, if all is ok, shut off game and change the files for the second car then run the game and so on.
it's a long process but it's worth it !!
AND IT DOES NOT WORK FOR PS2 !!! NO MATTER CHIP OR SWAP !!!
all you can do is rebuild the game to reduce the TOC but that's it!

You dont buy "ISO", Iso is a file which contains the data a computer needs to run a game.
If you want to mod a Gta:Sa on Ps2 do the following;
Get a modded Ps2 which can run copied games.
Copy all the files from San Andreas Onto your pc.
Download Img tool V2.
Get the Car Mods you want.
Go Into The Models Folder and Locate gta3.img, and open it with the img tool.
Locate the files you want to replace with your mods.
Delete and replace them.
Click file + Close session/Close.
Then download a Iso Program.
I use Blindwrite, you have to pay for that though.
Create An iso including all the files you took from the cd(with the mods on of course).
Put the Dvd in your ps2.
Play the game.
I recommend burning the iso to a DVD-R.
Now I can say what I need to.
Does anyone know where to get a modeler for gta sa from which you can open and edit dff files or txt files?
Ive tried all sorts but none worked in the way I Intended.
Any help Will Do, email me at Travis006@Hotmail.co.uk
Dont email me looking for help.
Thanks, Y.T.Y.A

I'm trying to mod the ps2 version of this, and the only thing I can come up with is that the format for the txd and dff files I am trying to replace is completely different than the existing ones. I need a tool which converts PC txd and dff files into PS2 readable versions.
RW Anaylze converts txd files to xbox files so why can't something be done similar with the PS2 version?
If xbox textures could be converted to ps2 I think this method will work, if knows anything about this let me know.
