First thing is you need to put all the codes for all the providers into the box not just your own provider all the codes can be found on the bottom of my post under codes make sure they are the correct ones you have in then come back ok

and if by magic - putting codes in, then scanning automatically actually works, i now have many more channels thankyou - even skysports!!

I have 105 TV channels - and radio too - is this a normal amount or is this low/high number - any way of getting more?

    the simplest of things hey!

    thanks alot tho

ben you should get more so try this ok remember your provider you scaned ok

now go to menu factory restore and press it put 1668 in and press ok this will erase the channels you have at present ok dont worry

now turn the box off at the back and back on after a min

now accept the english then go to installation and put the provider back in again that you used and re scan again and wait till it is compleat finishes then exit out to menu again put in 1570 and turn your emu back on again then exit out 3 times and see how many you have then ok

If you have a genuine and it has 2.57 you will need to update it to version 4

To update a Genuine SV , you will need 3 things first .

    1. A Null Modem Cable (9 pin female to 9 pin female)
    2. GT Rom Loader (Software)
    3. V4 .bin file (Firmware)

Number 1 , either you got it with your SV or you will have to buy it
Number 2 and 3 can be downloaded below , thanks to Eamo.
Eamo's SV Library .. found at the bottom of all my posts

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded
    it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starview will then reboot

Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in

If you have a laptop you more than likely have no 9 pin port and will need a USB Serial Port Adapter

Hi Guys, This is my first time on afterdawn. I have an unusual problem with my Starview Original box. Has been working ok with v4 firmware. Yesterday my box display showed only a 0. If I switch off and on, the display shows On for a second and then 0001 and then 0. Once 0 is displayed the box is dead to the world. The remote has no control over it. I tried to upload and download firmware but again nothing happens and GTROM Loader just shows failure. Perhaps it has just died of old age - I hope not. Has anyone got any ideas on this or experienced this happening to the starview?

Hi fergus, It has 7 x 18 vents ok - which makes it a clone. However everytyhing else inside matches the 1st generation original pictures I've seen on another website including the remote.

ok i would say it is clone ok did you put new firmware on it and after this all has been happening to it like non response

    13 vents is first gen

remote not much bearing on it they could have just thrown that in if that was all they had at the time
