you can either run an ethernet cable from one of the four places in the back of the router or you can buy a wireless media station from linksys which makes it so your ps2 can be in anyroom that is not near your router

Since you have a wireless router I'm assuming that you are using it with a wireless laptop. All you need is just the PS2 network adapter and a crossover patch cable. It'll cost you below 50 bucks for both. Just read my last post on how to make it work.

Since i am using a wireless card on the computer i have an open ether net port when have connected my ps2, unfortunetly i can't figure out how to get the ps2 to work. i tried the bridge thing and all it did was make me unable to surf the net. Please, when it comes to networking i'm pretty basic i need help, i have been sercging for over 3 hours and i think you guys understand my problem best. Please break it down as simplest as possible cuz i dono whats goign on and i think i'm making things worse

TheGr8One u don't need to bridge anything, you just need to make changes on the wireless router configuration to distribute a new set of IP instead of the default 192.168.0.1 adresses and then enable ICS internet connection sharing on your wireless connection by going to the network connections and then right clicking on the wireless connection to turn on ICS.
"I got this all figured out and was just too lazy to post the result. Like what Ranchido said if your router uses 192.168.0.1 IP adresses as default, you can't just enable ICS, first you need to change the settings for the router to give out 192.168.1.x and so on. And then just right click on the wireless network connection and then enable the ICS. Just connect your ps2 to the ethernet jack of the laptop with a CROSSOVER PATCH cable and configure a new connection on the ps2 then you should be able to go online through your wireless laptop."

got that 611 error but never found out what it means, maybe you're running a firewall? Try shuting it down if you have one. A crossover cable is just like your ethernet cable but with a different wiring pattern.

golden_35 when you change the IP distributions on the router you need to reboot all pc's that are in the network to release the old IP and get the new IP adresses. Then go to View Network Connections then rightclick on the wireless connection to enable ICS, giving the wireless network connection 168.192.0.1 IP adress. Then you should see the shared big hand sign on the wireless connection. After that you just need to set up a new connection on your PS2 NA. let me know if this works out.

never seen that before. What chip do you have? YOu might be having problem on putting it on sleep mode.Try putting the chip on sleep mode and then try to load a burnt game which shouldn't load if its really on sleep mode. I don't know what else...try going to playstation.com they got a pretty big forum in there.

Good idea, who ever thought of it!
Getting it working was cake, I've only seen one problem...can't get the headset to work when playing SOCOM II. If I connect directly to the linksys from the ps2 I have no problems, so I don't think it's a setting on the linksys. There were no specific rules in the ICS settings. Anyone else have this problem?

Note also that if you change your DHCP address allocation pool, you don't need to reboot the client PC's/Devices, Windows clients that support the IPCONFIG command from the command prompt can type IPCONFIG /RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW to obtain the new address without a reboot. Windows 95/98 clients can accomplish the same thing with the WINIPCFG command.

What do you use when you configure a new connection on the ps2? I tried different things, but the connection was never made.
Also to add various IP address ranges, how is that done? Filters?
any additional info. would be helpful

you're not going to add IP addresses you need to change the routers IP add. distribution, if it uses 192.168.0.1 addresses, in your routers settings.
"you can't just enable ICS, first you need to change the settings for the router to give out 192.168.1.x and so on. And then just right click on the wireless network connection and then enable the ICS. Just connect your ps2 to the ethernet jack of the laptop with a CROSSOVER PATCH cable and configure a new connection on the ps2 then you should be able to go online through your wireless laptop."

How do you "change the routers IP add. distribution"? I believe that I have done this already, and I initiated (ICS); but it still does not connect
