Sounds to me like you have the wrong firmware. I've never used Starview original but I'm pretty sure you have to use v 2.57.
John - you have a fabulous sense of humour.

If as you say it is Starview 1 (Just say's Starview on front left hand side of box) then you definately have the incorrect software on - you will only see The Box Logo on Starview 2 The Bo x - so if it is a genuine box SV 1 then you will need CrypStar-v1.4-Core400.bin
If it is a clone or you have any doubt then use CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin, you will find them in Eamo's library >>>>>>>>
For the record Starview 2 only has The Bo x on the front.

This question is only for a real Pro or anyone who really knows there S.h.i.t
I have posted here already but I haven’t had much luck with the responses so far, I have a starview 1 it’s an original it definitely is no doubt about it, I have also flashed many starviews 1’s and 2’s and digivox’s eurovox’s etc successfully (so I know how to do it properly), but this one is giving me a real headache, it must have the wrong firmware on it I’m sure but when I try and flash it, it refuses to let me do it saying Flash update Failed, also when I turn it on the only light that comes on the receiver is a single green dash on the left and nothing else, even more strange is when I turn the receiver on the BOX logo appears on the TV screen (and its stuck like that) suggesting to me that somewhere down the line someone (not me) had tried to flash this with the wrong firmware what I really want to know is if this is fixable is there a way to force flash the box like on a digivox or should I just throw it in the bin any of you smart lads out there let me know if you can help please

get the correct firmware for it the CryptstarV4.00 400 from the eko site if it the starview 1 genuine box
what you need to do is get the loader and firmware ready and turn the box on as soon as you see the first green light hit the download button and it should work this might take a few tries as it is all about timing ok

Hi All
I am just about to flash a THE BOX for a family member. This is the first one I have done, I usually do starview and EV.
Anyway, on the first page of this thread there seems to be a difference of opinion between Malci and Fergus on what way to upload and what firmware to use. The issue ia that these two guys are very clued in; so who do I go with
I am in Dublin on NTHell.
Should I use the normal GTRom loader with bin file 4.50
Or should I use the updated GTRom loader 4.3 with firmware 4.54
Does it make a difference either way???
All help as ever, I am thankful for.

Here's my opinion John lol
I would use the normal GTRom loader with bin file 4.50 for Ireland
I have used this upteen times for people and NO reports back , In my opinion I find this version more stable and reliable :)

John, Can I please point out that there is and I never have had a difference of opinion with Fergus - as regards your post (as quoted), I have and did merely point out the correct procedure of upgrading firmware above the 4.50 for Ireland and 5.51 for UK, the procedure I posted is the correct procedure for the 4.52/53/and 4.54. and I did state that in my opinion the 4.50 and 4.51 for respective locations is the most stable and reliable. I have in fact always advised to the contrary " that in my opinion that firmware was more trouble than it was worth" as I am sure Fergus would agree with me, and of course Celtic has agreed with me in past posts. Yes the 4.50 is your most reliable and best course of action for you as Celtic has advised - hope this clears up any confusion.

Hi Malci
No.... I didn't mean a difference of opinion as in "mine is better than yours" just simply that Fergus in his post said: just put 4.50 on and your mail was so much more in the way of info, going from 4.50 to the others and my confusion level was peaking in the red.
Sorry if my post seemed to say there was an arguementitive view, not so.
Thanks for the clarification on that and apologies if it seemd any other way.
Sometimes you need to speak these things as opposed to writing them, it would be easier.
Cheers
John

John
The V4.50 is what i always used but when the V4.54 came out i switched the versions on my boxes there does not seem to be much in the difference apart from the emu not switching itself back to default after turning power off on the box the 4.54 this does not appear to happen
Put the v4.50 on then put the v4.54 over it using the other loader v4.03 but remember to put the logo file on with it as well otherwise you will have problems you will have to do a factory reset first as the channels on the box will not work on it otherwise then do your scan after you have put it on ok
Hope this clears the matter up
