/Firefox + ABP FTW!!

Guys relax, the boss is looking into it, yelling "where are you" is not going to get the problem solved any quicker. As for the ads, it seems like a IE problem correct? I mean, I am here usually 2 hours a day writing/checking news, glossary, guides etc, and I have never seen a pop up ad. I am using FF 2.0 WITHOUT adblockplus and have not seen one in the 3 years I have been on this site.

However, while we are on the topic of ads we dont want to see anymore, the smiletrain ads are very hard to look at, especially when they are so huge.

Ouch. They do look annoying. Do they load ""from the banner"" at the top of the page (the top banner is advertising the same product)? I need to know this, because if that is the case, then the ads are definitely coming from our ad partners rather than being some weird-ass browser hijack. We've stated to our ad partners for years that we don't want to have any popping ads, so if it comes from "us", we need to have some serious talk with them.

Furthermore, do you happen to be able to catch the "landing url", i.e. the URL the banner points to (don't click it, as it would redirect probably couple of times before loading the final page, but if you "hover" your mouse on it, does it show any link at the bottom of the browser)?

Yes. Although if minimized they will pop up from the bottom of the page, over whatever application window is in front.

So far, no. I'v not been able to get a link at the bottom for it.

Alright, thanks. And the ads are HSBC and Trane? Targeted to U.S. users, right?

I am getting the hsbc and trane pop ups too. (im running IE7)

Didn't know what you guys were talking about till today and I'm getting both the Trane pop up and HBSC .Started this morning.

Still happening as of present.

Interesting. I use IE7 and have never seen these ads pop up.

yea i still have them this evening, last time they went away after a couple of hours but not today its been almost 12 hours. and yes it is the hsbc and the trane or whatever it is called ad.

It's been here, the 2 times that I have dropped in today. It is extremely annoying.

Its still here, I'll try and see what I can get for an address that it links to for you and then edit it into here... I screenshot the first address it gave me on the bottom of my IE7 window so i got as much of it as it could show

i am geting the same thing as far as pop up"s the hsb and the trane, i am using ie7 and have the pop up blocker set to the highest setting and it is still not stoping the popups, any help would be nice, thanks

I've contacted our ad networks to block these. They typically respond within 2 business days, so lets hope we get rid of these before the weekend.
