well, it seems the first thread is strictly chat on the hardware, this is for all the true gamers who just want to talk about games. IS that too much to ask for?(discussions on the graphics of the games counts here.

Quick note that fits here: The demonstrations at E3 were running on one or two cell processors, because nVidia's GPU was not ready. The GPU accounts for 1.8 TFLOPS of the PS3's power. The two cells the real-time renderings were running off are only 218 GFLOPS each, and are considered by Sony, not to be suitable for next-gen graphics. That's why they got nVidia, if the E3 displays looked like that, the actual sytem will look even better. Depending of course on how far the game publisher will take it.

Factor Five has decided not to publish for Xbox 360, and only the PS3. http://www.insidepulse.com/article.php?contentid=37880

To start a whole new debate ;)

I do believe that the E3 stuff was running off Mac G5's with 6800 SLI's...

As for Factor Five, you do realise that the ONLY game they had that might REMOTELY be worth calling a game is the Rogue Squadron games? Don't forget the other publisher that does Bomberman, they're exclusive too. Of course, the rumors that Sony bought them off are just rumors...

Team Ninja (Exclusive for Xbox) on the other hand...

I know it's straight from Sony, but that would be one serious white lie if it wasn't true. I doubt, Kutaragi would put his own personal reputation out on the line like that. Some stuff might have been running off those GPUs, 6800 etc. Kutaragi specifies some were just the cell.

"The seven SPEs (Synergistic Processor Element) of Cell can be used for graphics," reveals Kutaragi. "In fact, many of the E3 demos were made without a graphics chip, with only Cell used for all graphics. However, this means of use is wasteful."

I don't know what "many" is, but that's pretty impressive, because every demo looked amazing.

As far as I know, the only demo that Sony had was the tub and Duckies...

As for Kutaragi putting his reputation out...
"We haven't been creating our [past] PlayStations for the sake of games."
Before the launch of the Xbox..."Retailers in the US are already disappointed. Retailers told me that on a dollar base, they expect 70 percent of their sales to come from PlayStation. The remaining 30 percent will come from Nintendo and Xbox but almost all of that will be from Nintendo."

PS2 days..."Given our shared corporate vision and power for the evolution of online computer entertainment, AOL and SCEI make ideal partners," said Ken Kutaragi, president and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "With AOL by our side, Sony Computer Entertainment will begin to provide the world's content creators access to a new community for digital entertainment and distribution. Just as PlayStation 2 ushered in a new era of computer entertainment, we are now escalating the evolution of great gaming experiences into what will become a highly interactive, real-time broadband network environment."

"Our goal is to revolutionize the home entertainment market and even communication itself with PlayStation and PlayStation 2, the most prevailing entertainment platforms in the world," said Ken Kutaragi, CEO of SCEI. "Streaming media integration will vastly enrich the computer entertainment world PlayStation has built up to date. While envisioning the direct download of digital content from the network in the coming broadband era, we will obtain digital streaming and downloadable media using current networks, by integrating into PlayStation 2 the world's most popular Internet media delivery client, RealPlayer. As the world of gaming and the Internet merge, so too will entertainment and communication."

"PlayStation 2 is positioned to become the focal point of the consumer's living room Internet and entertainment experiences," said Ken Kutaragi, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "The Macromedia Flash Player is essential for delivering the interactive Web experience that consumers have come to expect. With support for Macromedia Flash Player, SCEI immediately gains more than 700,000 Macromedia Flash developers able to deliver Web content to PlayStation 2."

Not to mention that the Vp's of SCE Europe and America had two opposing statements regarding the game "demo's" that they showed. I can look up the exact quotes but it boils down to "yes, KZ2 was real game play" & "no, KZ2 was just a video" which were stated on the same day (and about 30 minutes apart).

Sorry, but until I see facts, I won't believe a thing Sony has to say.
