5.1 not working after mod

hello. using a spider chip 1.o on a 1.1 xbox. I have a 5.1 sony receiver. Now that i chipped the xbox i noticed i am only getting two channels of sound. i reinstalled the default hd and used the microsoft dash to play my games and watch my movies but still no 5.1. it used to work now it doesnt. is there anything i can do to get the sound back?

 

did you go into the M$ dash and enable the 5.1?

 

i didnt know that i had to. I dont have the ms dash installed on my big hd. i did notice that the progressive scan can be changed if i swap my big hd w. the original and then change back to the big HD. IS it the same w. the 5.1 or do i need to somehow install my MS dash onto my big hd?

I've never modded a box without the M$ dash...so I wouldn't know how it would work without one.....also considering I never use chips,I kinda have to have the M$ dash on for one reason or another.

 

thats cool. I heard of people modding the Xbox w.o a chip. Its just that i personally dont know how.

I guess not having 5-1 is a sacrifice one makes when installing a chip. Who knows it might just be me. or it just might be the dash that i am using

I don't use the main cable for my audio anyways,I modded mine so that I have a coaxle digital output on my box hardwired to the motherboard.

i am used to having the hi-def pack. it has a fiberoptic. before i modded the box, the 5.1 came on automatically. now it doesnt. this is gonna be such a dumb question i know. Is it hard to mod the coaxil digital sound out put? i am not great but i am somewhat crafty

I "figured" it out. Man i feel like such a dumbass. Its been so long since i had to modify the options of an xbox. The 5.1 and dts options are in the M$ dash. I enabled them and then switch back to the Large Hd and presto, 5 channels of sound! now my daughter can rock out to all those disney movies she likes. It also appears that if u enable progressive scan using the ms dash , then it enables and allows it to work w. evox as well
