Recently I purchased a sylvania dvd-r recorder. I have recorded a couple of movies. When I try to play them on the computer, they won't play. It looks like the drive is not recognizing that there is a disc. When I browse to the drive to explore it, it is empty. What format do dvd-r recorders record disks in? I had assumed there would be a vob file, as there is with standard dvds. Is there some sort of software that I should have that would fix this, or is this a problem with the media I am using? I recorded the movies on Memorex dvd-r. I have not had problems using this media in the past. :/ The model of the recorder that I bought is a Sylvania DVR90VE. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Memorex media is very uneven quality media due to the many different sources that manufacture it for Memorex ... Get yourself some Verbatim, Maxell or Sony media and you'll thank yourself for it ... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6887096&type=product&id=1095940787606
I have the same problem. I have the Magnavox DVD recorder and it burns on DVD+R. I use the MAXELL DVD+R and when I put them on the computer, it cannot read it, but my other DVD player can read it. I wonder why it does that.
Hi.. The sylvania is a "funai corp" product. I have the Emerson DVD Recorder. If you look through your manual, you will see that Funai states that discs recorded in your DVD Recorder may not pay in a computer or vise versa. I think the burners and recorders use different software, and thats why it seems more kinds of blank media works in a DVD Recorder than a burner.
Ps. Also, you should not use Memorex DVD media in your sylvania. Funai has reported many problems using this media in its products.
