Not quite sure this is the right category, yet;I have a toshiba dvd-player that also plays divx and xvid but i cannot get it to read srt subtitles. However some movies i have downloaded already have subs burnt on to the picture and they play perfect. Is there a way to burn srt subtitles on divx and xvid movies so that i will be able to see movies with subtitles on my dvd-player?
You can hard encode them by frameserving with AVISynth/textsub to your encoder (say VirtualDub, AVS2avi or mencoder). Could also use textsub as a VirtualDub plugin, however that means converting to RGB24. If your player is DivX certified then it should support XSubs which would avoid re-encoding.
Many thanks for your reply!!!!!!However , though I hate being disturbing I cannot understand a word you are saying!See i have never converted a movie, I only download from p2p's or copy entire dvds with shrinkDVD, so phrases like hard encoding, frameserving, my encoder,RGB24 , or text sub are all chinese to me and i have no idea what those programs that you mentioned (AVISynth VirtualDub AVS2avi or mencoder) work or look like or where can i find them!!!Plus what are Xsubs?Do I download them or convert them from srt's or something like that?
