Hey guys... I need to format a hard drive that came from a moded xbox. I want to use it back in my computer. What do I need to format this hard drive??? Windows XP Pro device manager knows its there but file explorer can't detect. Is the any special software to reformat it back to PC usage?? Hola.. GIJOE
if it's unlocked you can use a hard drive preparer to 'nuke' it. Pretty much wiping all the info off of it by flushing it with zeros. Once it's been cleaned off, treat it as if it was a new hdd.
You wouldn't happen to have a link to software with this feature? Or any suggestion of such software I could use? GIJOE
That would be alogical route, except my PC can't assign my second HD a drive letter. I have thought of that through good old DOS, but since I can't assign it a drive letter I can't format it. My PC recognises the new HD hardware but it can't understand the logistics (or formating) on it because it was previously formated for my XBox. I had already thought about the DOS route, but since I can't assign a drive letter to it, I would assume that I have to format it first some how, then assign a drive to it. Any other thoughts? Someone has had to have tried this before...XBox HD back to PC HD. I'm really stuck on this, please help me! Thanks GIJOE
do you have some sort of boot disc? you could just install the hd from the xbox into the pc(without the hd with windows) and format from there...you could probably even boot up a windows cd and format.
I'm going to try hooking up me new second HD as my primary and use the boot disk to format. It will not allow me to format using the boot disk when it is hooked up as my secondary HD. I will try this and hopefully I can format it that way. Thanks for your input. GIJOE
all you should have to do is just right click on the my computer icon on your desktop/start menu, click manage, then click disk management in the window that comes up. after that you should see your xbox hard drive listed on the lower right pane. right click on its icon and click initialize. it will then allow you to partition and format the drive.
