http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html Your dma is off. Use the link I posted above to turn it back on. burner doesn't like your choice of media. Try some verbatims or taiyo yuden. Also is your firmware up to date? http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=41#comments go to this link and navigate the site using the left side of the page and check the latest firmware on your burner.
ive been using the same disks for the past year or so and havent had a problem with them until i reinstalled windows last week. So its a bit weird. my firmware is up to date. and when i go to advanced settings for my IDE controllers, it also says its using DMA mode, so i dont understand why its off! ill try what uve suggested and post back to ya
In addition to matt72's reply - - edit out the serial numbers, they'll get stolen, or already are by now - install latest ASPI from here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm - just for info, if you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in preferences to avoid the outer edge of discs - see here http://www.coujo.de/ib2/lofiversion/index.php?t1986.html - slow it down!, try 4x - this section is blank, i suspect you haven't installed motherboard drivers. Also, ASPI details are not listed here, install correct ASPI as mentioned above. Plus see the link after the Buffer too large comment, someone on that link had problem cus their VIA driver was too new and solved problem by going back a version.. Hopefully the DMA anomaly will be solved by sorted the motherboard drivers
Ops about the serial numbers. i didnt even notice! I tried yesturday installing the latest ASPI drivers, but they dont install properly on my system. Nero InfoTool says that it is corrupt and files are missing! i then tried force aspi and that doesnt work Ill try and see how installing an older via driver goes. And ive tried all kinds of speeds, it doesnt even start burning, the disk comes out as a blank cd. Ill give what you have suggested a go and see what happens. thanks for your help creaky and matt72.
I have the problem of "buffer too large" also... process begins, but results in blank, UNUSABLE DVD. I have tried different approaches, if I do not install special IDE drivers from ABit, then my xp pro sys will restrict the boot drive to multi word mode 2. If I install the Via Ultra IDE drivers... I can set the boot drive to correct settings. However, this causes my "Buffer too Large" error. This occurs when writing ANY image DVD. I can write any type of CD without problem. And I can write to a DVD..just cannot write image files. I know this has something to do with drivers, but I don't know what. I have talked with Abit tech. Absolutely hopeless. Via packages the drivers I need only in 4 in 1 packages. I need the older version of Via driver, only, so I can install it from a floppy on a re-install of the OS. The IDE driver I want is ver. 5.1.2600.2180 i read from someone who stated they had cured the problem by reverting back to this Via IDE driver.
try a new version of Nero. You're using 6.6.0.8 and I think they're up to 6.6.0.14 now. Also, your serial numbers (kinda funny you have multiple serials) are still there. That link creaky posted had someone saying that you could be using too new of VIA chipset drivers. Updating Nero may even this out, maybe your VIA drivers (if you're even using a VIA chipset) came out after that version of Nero, and Nero doesn't get along with it. And your DMA is not enabled on your burner. If Windows says DMA if available, you may have it disabled in BIOS.
@skepev_c - any updates on this problem ?. The reason i'm resurrecting this thread is i'm having a problem helping someone with the same sort of motherboard/same sort of error, but i'm more interested in the DMA aspects of this problem, ie did you get anywhere with the DMA problem, and with the buffer too large stuff ?
you might want to have a look at this thread here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/231433/1304083-438299
Creaky To be honest, i havent dealt with the problem since, but would like to get it fixed asap. Therefore, i have not had any developments. In regards to DMA, it was already set to DMA mode, but i couldnt increase it to a higher level DMA. I think the reason who i couldnt increase it may be due to my motherboard not to sure

Does this problem only occur with multi session dvd's or when you try to burn any type of dvd (audio, data etc). What type of mainbord/chipset do you have in your pc?
hmm.. this error only happen when i want to burn multi session data dvd. i don't know the type of mainboard i am using fujitsu notebook s6220 pentium m 1.5 ghz that's what i know thanks for help
I recommend you to make sure that your BIOS and chipset drivers and Nero are up to date. Try again after that. Look for a tool called DeskUpdate on your laptop. This should check for the newest drivers for your laptop. Does the problem occur with DVD-R or DVD+R medias? Does it happen at any speed?
Did you read this post before you added your part? Please provide some hardware information, chipset, motherboard.
@ftball12 Turn DMA on. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf Throw away those DVD's (made by CMC Magnetics) buy some Verbatim, Maxell, Ritek. Try to free-up memory by using TaskManager to end unneeded processes, virus scanners, firewalls, etc. Edited.2005-12-06
@ftball12 - in addition to the other replies - - too old, as 3.1.0.21 is the latest version from Nero 6.x - http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-up.php. However your problems the thread don't appear to be Nerovision at fault, but other stuff like crap media, DMA settings, lack of memory etc which i'll detail now.... - i've edited out your serial number - DMA needs to be ON, see his link for getting DMA back ON (kurtp21 saved the day in that link and he's in this thread now so hopefully he can advise you easier than me copy/pasting from that thread - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/231433 - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory - what can i say, these are some of the most awful atrocious, utter rubbish dvd media you can buy, and you bought them! (sorry but they're awful, glance at my signature where CMC discs play the starring roles) - see my comments re DMA further up the reply - try 4x - CDRALW2K.SYS is part of Roxio. try uninstalling Roxio (doesn't always play well with Nero), then you might need to fully remove using Roxio Zapper - http://www.microadvantage.net/utilities
