Is there anyway to make a VRD-VC10 capture video, it has all the input things but no program recognizes it. Is there any firmware to make it capture video? Thanks.

The DVDirect is a ruggedly built device that can be used as either a USB-attached 16X dual-layer DVD±R/RW rewriter or as a standalone direct-to-disc video recorder—but can't do both at the same time. If this is the functionality you're looking for, it's a good choice at the price.

    PROS:
Can record video direct-to-disc without a PC. Outstanding Nero 6.6 software bundle. Fast CD-R performance.

    CONS:
No preview when capturing video. Can't record digital video sources (only analog). No FireWire interface to PC.

It's an external DVD recording device, not a video capture device.

Not according to what that all says, from the Sony page.
It does say, "direct to disk", which I would think, means you can capture video directly onto DVDR, but not to your hard drive.
