I made a post about this in the "files sharing forum" but after i made the post i realised that i should have mentioned that I also want to burn it to disc. This is what my original question is> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/203627 But what I want to mention is that, I want to burn the movie the dvd disc but the subtitle file and film are in seperate files, [bold] how do I get the subtitles to appear on the movie?[/bold] so that when I burn it, I see subtitles on the screen on the tv too. (Sorry if this is confusing and i'm being a hassle, i'm really not sure what to do here) thanks so much for reading. EDIT: ALSO, I forgot to mention, I have Winrar, i was told to use that but how do i go about doing it with winrar? thanks again.
Winrar only works on .RAR and .Zip files. You would do well to download these two programs, then read the guide. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm If you do the above reading for an hour or so, you will have no problem. Write back if you need help.
hi avi2dvd and film machine take subs separately avi2dvd is avi / vobs / subs to dvd film machine is avi / subs to dvd may want to check tese out!
Thanks Blessedon, I will check the links out But the thing is, with me and computers, most of the things i've read on the internet seem to be complicated and hard to understand, I'm really looking for something simple that explains how to get the subtitles into the film the easiest way possible - but I will have a look at those links anyway thanks again. thanks Rotary, I tried the AVI2DVD program, it seemed to work well at first but everytime I go to finish, it doesn't work and tells me that there was an error. Would you like to see the log file? i'm not sure if that would help or not. also, do you have a link to 'film machine' ? I can't seem to find that on google, sorry for being a hassle One more thing, Do either of you know any other programs I can try out? I've tried Virtual dub and VobSub but they won't work on this computer, ive tried avi2dvd and i'm not really sure what else there is. I would juts like a program to put the subtitles from the file all in one with the movie (avi) file. thanks again!
Actually, I'm not sure what I did but it seems to be playing WITH subtitles in Realplayer right now The only thing is, though, will the subtitles still show when I burn it in Nero express? and will the subtitles still show when i play it in my dvd player?
Yes, I was right, I just played it in Nero and the subtitles don't show up. (Just before Nero completely froze on me argh!) I don't understand, surely it shoudln't be this difficult? I noticed that when I played the film on real player, the subtitles showed up and also a little green arrow on my toolbar showed up with "Subvob" on it, it was just about options about the subtitles (eg. On/off) well I'm guessing that they aren't fixed on the movie, so how exactly do I go about fixing them permenantly onto the movie so that when I burn it in Nero, the sibs show on the screen when I play it on my dvd? thanks again if anyone can help and sorry for the hassle. The movie is an AVI and the subs are srt format by the way.
hi film machine http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/ you know you have to turn subtitles on in dvd players dont you? or they wont show! out of curiosity whats the error in avi2dvd? ---------------------------------------- its probably your computer not the software?
Hi and thanks again for your repsonce The thing with virtualdub is that, it's not so much that it doesn't work but i can't seem to get it to work with vobsub. I took a couple of screencaps to show what I mean exactly. I was told to open virtualdub > go to video > go to filters > go to 'add' and click on "subtitles", now when I do this, there is no option to click on subtitles even though vobsub is already installed into my computer. (i uninstalled vobsub again to try and install it again with the guide below) I also tried this guide / tutorial... http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/87065.php but I can't understand it because, when I install Vobsub, it says to check "vobsub for VirtualDub" and "TextSub for VirtualDub" as plugins before installing, now when i do this I get this menu > which asks me to find the location for virtualdub... So i click on it and go through the files... I go through all the files and virtualdub is not there, which is where I get stuck and cannot get vobsub to work with virtualdub. any ideas what to do with this? thanks again
This is Not a Difficult thing... If you want to make a DVD from this AVI file and Subtitle file all you need to do is First encode the AVI file to a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file useing a Good Quality Standalone Mpeg encoder Like Tmpgenc or CCE or Canopus Procoder... Once the AVI file is encoded to a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 File you Load it into a DVD authoring Program that Supports Selectable Subtitles like "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" and you simply Load the Subtitle file into DVDLab as the Subtitle and then author the Mpeg-2 file and Subs to DVD ....The Subs will show up on your TV as soons as you enable the Subtitles on your DVD Players Remote Controll.... Cheers
Well I know a program that's pretty simpel and converts both the avi file and subtitle file to one DVD file so you can burn it to a DVD-R and watch it on your dvdplayer with subtitles, the only thing you need is the program and 5 GB of HD space. After it's done converting you just burn it with Nero selecting burn Data DVD and you're done. You can get the program here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Recording/WinAVI-Video-Converter.shtml You do need to register, but I'm sure you can find some info on that on the net, .
