need a lil kick in the right direction...

This is where I am and stuck...

What I have:
- Xbox - either V1.4 or V1.5 (haven’t checked the voltage to determine exact version… will I need to or? since the chip supports both?)
- Xecuter 3 CE
- 160Gig hd

*I haven't yet installed anything to both hardware/software...*
I'm stuck... and need further explanation of:

Dashboard - can you install diffrent versions such as Evolutionx/Evox without the mod chip?
How to back everything before you touch it? If possible?

BIOS - I found bios version x2.06 and flash bios v3.03
*I’m pretty sure I flash the bios after I have the Xecuter 3 CE installed

Basically it comes down to the 'software' side of things... really confusing and so many different versions and ways to do one thing!

so where am I? Do I just need to install my chip? and go from there or?

Follow this guide and you'll be fine...

Turn on your Xbox and make sure it runs like it is supposed to. Also, make sure to turn the first two switches on the X3 switch to the right, and leave the last 3 to the left.

[bold]3)[/bold] Get a correct bios for your Xecuter 3 chip here, http://www.x-b-o-x.net/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=69
DL the X3 3029 bios file. If you want the newest X3 bios, follow this guide on how to retrieve it using mIRC and FlashFXP, http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/xbinshowto.htm
I believe the newest bios is the X3_3294
(Note: make sure to unrar the bios after you get it)

[bold]4)[/bold] Follow this guide on how to flash your X3 chip w/ the bios you recieved above, http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/

[bold]5)[/bold] Download the Evolution X dashboard build 3935 from this site, http://www.x-b-o-x.net/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=1 or follow this guide on how to get it through mIRC and FlashFXP, http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/xbinshowto.htm

[bold]6)[/bold] Now, the EvoX will be in a .rar folder like the bios was. All you have to extract out of that are these files...

--skins (folder)
--evox.ini
--evoxdash.xbe

Now all you have to do is transfer the three files listed above into the root directory of your Xbox's C:

[bold]8)[/bold] Create 2 new folders in your Xbox's E: and name one [bold]apps[/bold] and the other [bold]games[/bold] (This is where you will put your games and apps into)

[bold]9)[/bold] Reboot your Xbox and enjoy!

After you successfully install the chip, then I'll be glad to help you with adding that 160GB hard drive in.

I found a great site,,sorry I don't know how to make a link of it so you'all gonna have to do some typing....xbox4fun.com...Italian site with really great downloads for bios, softmods and just about every app you ever gonna need (shame all the text is in Italian, looks really interesting forum/magazine, but I just Stoopid Brit and not speak any euro languages)BTW I agree with the sentiments about people who just take what they need and never give anything back..Pain in the ass..lots of 'em in the UK, and rude with it, Also have nero settings for burning bios disk, if you need 'em..pm me

 

I'm really not into the whole translating thing. It sounds like it would be a pain in the a$$ to translate the entire page every single time. But I guess I should check out that site still though

Yep..x-b-o-x.net is really good, though I have major problems downloading from there..Can't always sign in even tho' Im a member of the forums..Some of the things I got from there were zipped up really strange..(cannot seek on .EXE..etc) Still a good place. far superior to xbins (they are a REAL pain)

 

Yeah, I suppose your right about xbox net, I have had a few problems there in the past, but overall my experience there has been good. #xbins is a pain to get on, but I guess it only takes an extra few minutes...

Well i got X3 Config Live on it but now want 2 install a bigger HDD with the origal Xbox dashboard on it, because i still want 2 be able to play Live! on it (got Halo 2 on Live!), and i want the bigger hdd 2 backup Halo1 (guess why...)............................... and some other games i have...

 

Just a quik piece of advice...

If you go online w/ your upgraded HD installed, you will be banned w/in a couple weeks.

 

Agreed, not a good idea trying live with a new hdd..There is supposed to be a build to get round it (X3.3286?? config_live) but I haven't heard of anyone having any success with it. It can be had from ..www.xboxtribe.com/downloads/binaries

 

hey Pimpdawg , Hey i followed some of your advice i just installed an xecuter3ce and just now flashed it with the X3 3029 build bios .i also just threw in a seagate 160 gig hdd. Can i do that ?? and then just download a dashboard or do i need to copy some files from the original hdd?? do i have to pull the new one out? any help or advice is appriciated ./ im learning but i always try to help others when i do learn ...thats what this site is all about p.s when i hold down the on switch to go to regular mode i get a code 13?
