I have my computer pluged to a Digital Video Deck for recording a show to another medium besides tape. I get a picture from the deck when I set up my connections under the composite setting, but when it goes to live tv, there is no picture. How do I tell my computer where to look?

what is your set up? what exactly are you trying to do?

DV deck out to pc out to tv? PC tv tuner out to dv deck and out to tv? Is your tv also your monitor using composite?

    This is my setup...

3 DV Cameras to switcher to DV Deck for recording, also with output to my PC notebook running Windows Media Center Edition (3.0 Gigs, 1 Gig mem, 80 Gig HD)

My attempt is to make backup copies of the show I'm doing incase the DV tapes mess up...I have had this happen a few times to me, and I'm looking for a solution.

The question is... it doesn't look like Media Center supports capture from anything other than directly from a television. What can I use for video capture on a laptop using the specs I have?

The Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 should have no problem. there are other USB video capture cards but I haven't used them.

And you shouldn't have any problem with the specs your pc has.
