    Hi,

I have just downloaded the TMPGEnc encoder to encode my Divx movie files into VCD format in order to burn them onto disc using my CDRW. When I opened the file it opened in my Winamp player, and it relayed a message saying unable to open TMPGEnc as file format not recognised ??? Can anyone help me ?

one way is to use virtualdub or make sure you have the right codecs. But that does sound funny, cause you can play the divx movie, right? but you don't get to convert it? or open the file in tempgenc?

Hi there, thanx for replying for me - you say I can use virtualdub - where do I get this from ? Yes I can play the file in my Divx player - but when I downloaded the TMPGenc and tried to open it, it downloaded into my windows media player, but my media player couldn't open the file and said it was an unrecognizeable format - don't understand all this.

lisaw you said your media player couldn't open the file, I suppose you don't install DivX codec into the system. You can download it at Divx.com. after install the avi file will be recognizeable and able to use TMPGenc for encoding.
