I have tried burning two different compilations to dvd today and i used dvd decrip for one and nero for the other, but both sessions the burn process did not get past the lead in, i am using a sony dru 710a i thought there might be a problem with the burner so i upgraded to the latest firmware but i still have the same problem... Please help..... there has never been any problems burning dvd's before and i'm at a loss with what to do Thanks
Hi there, Provide us a full nero log (Remove your Serial Number) and from there, it will help us see what is going on. What brand of media are you using ? http://www.dvdinfopro.com can provide you with the MEDIA ID. What speed are you burning at ?
Nero worked perfectly but after updating to 6.6.0.14 I have the same problem "could not write end-of-disk ...." I would like to atach log file but how can i do this? Anybody can help? Peter LOG: -----------------------------------------
Go into program files, open the ahead folder, open nero folder, locate and open nero history, scroll down to last burn, copy and paste. Be sure to xxx out the serial number.
This is the log form a simulation i tried in nero just now, again its seems to stick at the lead in and the says illegal disc. Any ideas? The dvd's i'm using are Emtec 4.7gb they are german but as to quality i don't know a good one from a bad one, but i have been using this same batch of dvd's for ages with no problems, but the last test i did was simulation only, not a proper burn because i don't want to knacker all my dvd's
Hi there, You do have the latest firmware for your drive. As for Nero, the latest is v6.6.0.14 From your version to the latest, I'm not sure if there's any fix that might help, but I think it would not hurt trying the latest version. Have you tryed at 2x and see if it helps ? Father in law has some cheap media. I can burn 5 without a problem, then bomb 2 in a row. They are real bad. http://www.dvdinfopro.com will tell you the Media ID.

I would try some different good quality, proven media. That is the first and easiest place to start. I've never heard of the media you're useing so can't comment but verbatum, taiyo yuden, sony, maxell, or fuji (made in japan) would be some good choices. Run your media through this free proggy http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ and tell us the manufacturer and ID. Mort
I have just installed the latest version of nero and i still have the same problem, i just don't understand, what could be wrong because from day one i never have had any burn problems but now i can't burn a dvd, this is the media info.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MAM4XG02] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R] Manufacturer Name : [Manufacturing Advanced Media Europe S.A.] Manufacturer ID : [MAM4XG02] Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
looks like the guys already stormed your Nero log, i can't see anything they haven't covered. Also the others advised to use better media. I recommend Verbatim [bold]datalifeplus[/bold], not only are they top notch media that cost no more than utter rubbish media, Sony drives (ie rebadged Lite-on drives) love Verbatim , but then again any drive would love them..
i agree with the post above i have the same burner and firmware and i use verbatims and ty's and not one coaster but i only use dvd+r's and booktype them to dvd-rom. in nero goto nero toolkit, choose cd-dvd speed, now click on the extra tab, choose bitsetting, in new setting choose dvd-rom, click on set. this will automatically set dvd+r's to dvd-rom when you burn. hope this helps. if you use decrypter to burn it also has a booktype feature for sony's(rebadged lite-on) click on the book in the bottom right corner, click on lite-on tab, change for next write, then select dvd-rom,click change, hit ok and your done this is only for dvd+r's and when set to dvd-rom all my backups have played on several different brands and older models peace
Thanks for all the info, i'll try some new media, but for now i have to go offshore, so it will be a few days before i'm back and able to try, i'll post my progress when i get back. Tanks again. Del
