My Sony DVDRW D56A for some reason burns CDRs, but not DVDRs. My friend told me I should change my media brand, so I switched from Memorex to TDK DVDRs, yet... the problem still persists.

This is where in the log file the problems start happening:

    From Nero soft:

It would be a bit easier if you included the entire log file. Problems often start a lot farther back than the one you posted. There is also a lot of system information, program settings etc that is helpful.

    i've got your backs lol

Nero logfile is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. Only post last section, it's 'sectioned' via these lines - '====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======'

DO NOT post your serial number, it's a line or 2 beneath that header line, usually beginning with '1A21' or similar...

The only odd thing I see is that it only took two seconds after the start of the burn to come up with that unspecified target error usually bad media will at least get through the lead in... This media is so bad that Nero could not even start the OPC.

    Nero did manage to:

    13:01:29 #23 Phase 127 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832
    Generating DVD high compatibility borders

    13:01:29 #24 Phase 129 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832
    Generating DVD borders completed successfully

Thus insuring that this disc will never be written to again.

Nero could probabbly stop the write process if it knows that an error has occured. But no, it has to turn it into a coaster!
