Are you using hacked firmware, because if you are you will be stuck in that region unless the firmware is region free.

Ok, so I read through all the threads that seemed relavent and I have to say they helped...which is good.
But I am trying to figure out what CD-RW/DVD-Rom Combo I have, I have a Gateway M305CRV and under device manager it only says "Standard" under the manufacturer. The device "label" is QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242U. Now I am traveling so I don't have any tools to disasemble my laptop, so is there any way I can figure out what brand my drive is so I know which firmware to download?
Thanks for the help and great info on this forum!!

    http://etna.rpc1.org/qsi/index.html

Check this site for your QSI cdrw/dvd combo
write the person and ask for help

They are very helpful with these types of firmware mods.

    also check www.rpc1.org

Download the free version of DVDInfopro. It does many things. It will ID your drive and firmware version and also can ID blank media as to manufacturer.

    http://www.dvdinfopro.com.
