    Hi,
I"m hearing alot lately from friends that an SVCD is much better than a VCD. They are saying the picture quality is better. If you download a movie and it's not a dvd rip...then the quality is only as good as the downloaded movie isn't it? Or is it? Should I be making SVCD's instead? I have made VCD's from DVD ripped movies and they are awesome. I tried making a SVCD but I couldn't with my TMPGE encoder..it kept saying I needed an MPEG codec....should I download this? Also, do you know of any other sites besides KaZaa to download movies from??

    Thanks,
    Cirsinn

SVCD as a format is more advanced than VCD, but has a small problem, in that it takes up more space, so you often need 3 CDRs. You are correct that downloaded movies are as good as they are, but if you encode them again, like making them a VCD or SVCD if they were a divx, then you will make them even worse. You need to pay for TMPGEnc if you want SVCD (MPEG2) facility.

And please don't ask us where to download movies.

    Paul.
