Will the dvd screen menu appear when i want to play it after recording or do i have to burn a program to the dvd-r and then record. but im thinking if i do that i will not be able to record the show bcuz i already used it to put the program on there. major dilemma please help!!! thanx

... Recording a Tv program with a DVD recorder is very similar to recording with a VCR ...

.. Using your PS2 and a DVD recorder to backup DVDs will require a 'hack' to disable the macrovision ... You're really better off using a computer to accomplish this task ..

. Why would you want to record a Tv show to VHS only to transfer it to DVD? The DVD quality is so much better . The only reason I can think of doing this is to archive VHS tapes you already have recorded (before owning a DVD recorder) . The DVD recorder's manual will show you how to do this .

... As far as the steps involved in recording a Tv program . My DVD recorder has one button recording and is virtually idiot-proof ...

.. The machine that I have is a LiteOn LVW-5005 and I like it so much that I'm going to get another ..

. Here are some reviews on the unit .

... If you search, you can find it for about $145 +shipping ...

alright just a few other things. i appreciate the help. well there be a title menu on the dvd? should i get dvdr-w to record with because i dont want to record the commercials.

and i dont have a dvd recorder yet i was going to buy one just wanted to know if there was some device you could use that helps you record from vhs to dvd

... The above device is intended to enhance the recording from VHS to DVD ... I haven't ever used one, however ... With my LiteOn LVW-5005, I can defeat macrovision simply by pausing the tape (or DVD), starting the recorder and letting it run for 15 seconds or so, then unpausing the tape(or disc) ... This has worked 100% of the time so far ... Also, the DVD recorder appears to actually improve the quality of the recorded image from VHS to DVD ...

... There is a title menu on the recorded disc ... What I do to edit out commercials is to record on a DVD+RW (these seem to work better than the -RW discs) .. Then I use DVD Decrypter to rip the video to a file on my CPU .. Editing is done with DVD Shrink in reauthor mode ... What I do if I want a title menu is then burn the image back to a DVD+RW and duplicate it back onto a DVD+R disc using my DVD recorder and another DVD player ... There are programs out there that will allow you to create menus with your computer, but I haven't tried any yet ...

     ... Hope this helps !..
