i'm having a bit of a problem
i'm using a pioneer 111D
i can burn stuff in Nero, but i can't get my drive to create anything but coasters in clonecd or Alcohol 120%
this is a nuisance since most 360 releases are created with clone cd
is there any way to convert a dual layer clonecd image to an image compatible with Nero that will work when i pop it in my 360?
or is there a particular reason my drive is just producing coasters with Alcohol 120% and clonecd?

Have you ensured that the bitsetting is set correctly for DVD-ROm in clonecd?
It may be set by default for Nero but not in the others?

the pioneer 111d doesn't support bitsetting

5.2.9.1
the problem with burning is in DVD R, i haven't tested DVD DL as the media is much more expensive, but as i said i always get coaster DVD Rs with alcohol and clone cd
but i did read somewhere that the pioneer 111d support auto bitsetting with dvd dl, just not dvd r
can anyone confirm?

Hey,
Im new to copying 360 games. Ive been backin up ps2 games for years now though, so im somewhat familiar with the process. My question is do you have to have a mod chip in the 360 like with the ps2 to play the backups or do i just copy the game with DVD Decrypter or some program and pop it in like the original copy?

You need to either "Flash" the firware of the DVD-ROM drive on the 360 OR get a mod chip, I recommend going the route of the flashed firmware as it works flawlessly and is fully reversable.
I recommend you check out http://forums.xbox-scene.com for ANY information you could ever need/want to know about the process.

Is there any easier method than having to open the system and mess with the drive? Like can i burn the data to a cd and read it from there? Im not very good at following directions and i have a strong feeling, as complex as it looks, that i will mess my system up if i try to alter it.

Either way the system needs to be opened in order to "Mod" it. The I recommend buying the PC DVD-ROM drive Samsung SH-D162C, then you dont need to open up the 360 to pull out the DVD-ROM everytime. Much more easily done.
Then with XBOX Backup Creator, its literally ONE click to back up a game to a .ISO image, nothing to it.

is there a fast way to tell whether or not your iso needs to be patched? and if its already patched.. would attempting to patch it <without knowing its patched already..> damage the iso?
oh and..
good news.. to all those who are reluctant to open your 360.. Xbox 360 blaster is coming out.. not a whole lot of details are out right now as to price and release date.. <they said october of this year.. wtf, its november? :P> but still look forward to it.

Hey. I don't believe repatching the .iso will damage the current .iso, but I haven't made the mistake of accidentally repatching yet. I'm pretty sure that if you repatch it, it will just patch over what you had already done and should be no harm.
As for the blaster360. That is a product created by team Xecuter, and, like all their other products, requires you to open the console to install. Once you open the console and install the blaster360, you close up your console and will never have to open it again because the plugs for the DVD connector kit are located on the front of the blaster360 so you will never have to open your console again to reflash the firmware with the latest builds. But what the guy before me said about never having to open the console is false; you do have to open it, but only once.

As of now, I do not believe there is anything that can be done with region coded games. If it were a region free game it wouldn't matter. I don't know the specifics of the firmware mods, but I don't think they allow for games of other regions to play. However, the Globde 360 modchip will allow you to play backups as well as imports.

How does the mod-chip get around region locked games then? And please stop promoting the 360globe chip. It seems like you work for them or something.

I'm not sure how the modchip does it, but I have been able to play backups that were PAL region on my U.S. console. I have not used the firmware mod however. If anyone has used the firmware mod and has been able to play different regions on their console, their input in this matter would be great. I've looked around on the web quite a bit concerning region coding, but have not found anything on it. But, all I know is, the modchip works for me.

the 360 is region locked. the firmware hack doesn't change that, in other words, there's nothing you can do to play a NTSC game on a PAL console and viceaversa.

actually, to the contrary, you can play PAL games on an NTSC console. I have done it. Check the specs of the Globe360 chip on any reputable reseller as well.

Ignore that last message I posted. I have a premodified console from www.modchipstore.com that is modified with the Globe360 mod-chip. The listing there says you can play imports and backups and I have played both. Sorry about me saying you could find the information anywhere, but it should say it on more sites, because it does work.

no, only if the game is region free will you be able to play it on any console.....................a firmware chip WILL NOT CHANGE THIS.
again, you CAN'T play PAL games on a NTSC console and viceaversa....it was possible w/ the 1st xbox, but not the 360. as the console is region locked. However, if the game studio decides to make their game region free, every region of the console will be able to play it.

I have a pioneer 109 dvd burner with FW 1.58, which in the specs burns DL discs, I am using DVD+R Dual layer discs. I have downloaded the clonecd program and followed the instructions in this topic.
However I keep getting the messages of "writing to PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 FAILED!" after about 25 minutes of burning. I set the burning speed to x2 and followed instructions to the word.
Any ideas? need to upgrade my burner? discs?
Thanks in advance.

Could you maybe give us a little more information about your whole burning process rather than the result. Give us some step-by-steps so we may be able to see where you went wrong

there is the log on that screenshot ^^ that might help.
downloaded Rainbow six, repaired the files, extracted them into a 000 file (7.3GB) and a dvd file (1KB). I then pressed "write from image" in clonecd and used the browser to find the DVD file then selected my burner to burn the file to. Is burning the DVD file correct or have I made a mistake and must burn the 000 file?
The progress meter in clonecd was at 100% when i came back to my computor but it said it had failed to write to my burner.
I have no idea where/what i am going wrong, if you need any more infomation from me just fire away with questions.
thanks.
