I've searched the net and my manual and all I have found is that you can't open the tray from the Remote. However, I have a Carver/Sunfire Remote III which when I depress the ENT button, the tray opens on the DMR-E85H. So, there is a command somewhere or at least built into the unit. I've just upgraded from 0950DL to 0970DL and it still works. So, ok, who needs the tray to open when you're sitting on the couch. Well, being that this unit generally has to think for awhile sometimes before releasing the tray, I prefer to send the open signal before I get up and have to stand there waiting. Yeah, it's being lazy, but, the option is there. I can continue to use the Sunfire remote for this but I'm curious and thought others may find the feature useful as I. And, maybe it is in the manual and I just couldn't locate it. Cheers
I'm out of town until the weekend so am not near the unit or the manual right now. I didn't realize there was an option to change remote codes on the unit itself if that is what you meant. What are you trying to determine? Are there other remotes avail. for this unit?
By pressing enter and a number, the remote can be changed to 1 of 3 different device codes. You have to change the code in the setup menu first, though. What I want to know is how it is possible that your other remote is duplicating the panasonic codes exactly. My assumption is that there is another code set that the E85 is responding to.
Not sure if I'm getting back home this weekend but at anyrate, once I do, I've go through the codes and let you know what I find. Could be a week or more so keep checking back.
Ok, tried remote code 2 and 3. No go on those. Just displays REMOTE on the display when I click on the ENT button on the Sunfire remote. Putting it back to code 1 gives me back the tray open/close option. Hope that helps.
That means it's worth trying my code scanner again. I tried it on the new EH50 and nothing opened the door. I managed to lock the door... maybe that was a bad thing ! I found a code to change the language, and one to go straight to erase all titles! Real useful.
