I just recently bought a DVD burners. The main reason i bought it was so that i could fit alot of stuff on a DVD-R discs as and when I need to, ie..data, films etc. However, I have jst realised that my Divx Player cant see the films that Ive burnt on the DVD-R discs the second time around! Any one kno why this is, and if there is any solution to it? Are there any known problems with divx players not being able to accept multisession Ddv-r discs? My burner burner model is the NEC ND3540, the latest one out at the mo. Im using Datawrite Classic 4.7GB 8 Speed DVD-R discs. And im buring it using Nero 6.6 Ultra edition. Any help, would be much appreciated
they're not what i'd call very good discs. however let's attack this problem from the bottom, ie post LAST section from your Nero log - it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number, which begins with '1A21' or similar'
Hey Creaky - So are u saying that the discs could be the problem? I find this rather strange, and think we should be able to burn abit at a time without any problems. How do u burn data, do u burn in one go or a bit at a time? Below is the LAST section of the nero log u asked to see...Just as a note, i burnt couple of more discs after tryin to make a multisession disc, so if you want to see the log for the multisession cd, let me know. ================================== Nero Log: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0001), size=45056 bytes, created 14/08/2002 15:03:36 ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 18:35:34 Nero Version: 6.6.0.14 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 14d (Nero Express) Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A> Version: 1.01 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.14 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8583 >Version: C61f - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.14 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : FUJITSU MPE3136AT atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD205BA atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8583 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8583 E: CDRom0 _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A G: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 254MB (260532kB) Free physical memory: 96MB (99020kB) Memory in use : 61 Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 16.7.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 20:09:17 #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 20:09:17 #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 20:09:17 #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6314 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 20:09:17 #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 20:09:18 #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 20:09:18 #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A running 20:09:18 #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3297 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 20:09:18 #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3297 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 20:09:18 #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3230 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 20:09:18 #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 267 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 1613679 (358:35.54, 3151MB) 20:09:18 #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 279 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD DVD) 20:09:18 #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2433 Recorder: _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: FUJIFI - LM03 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 20:09:18 #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 445 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 20:09:18 #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1613680 (1613680) = #1613680/358:35.55 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1613680 blocks [_NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 20:09:18 #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [_NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; a multisession disc has to be 'closed' in order to be used elsewhere. - you need to free up more memory, your hard disc will be 'swapping' - slow it down to 4x i just don't think certain Datawritte discs are any good, i've come across many appalling ones
So if i finalise the dvd-r, will i be able to see the films(avi files) that I added the second time around on my divx player? As for the discs, i looked through some other threads on here and bought myself some Verbatim 16x speed discs. Talkin about speed, whats the point of having a burner capable of burning at 16x and having media that can handle it, but having to burn at x4 as you recommend? I mean is it really that bad, will the disc become unstable in afew months? Im new to dvd burning so excuse my ignorance
i'm a bit rusty on multisession discs, i was never very keen on it and only dabbled slightly many many moons ago but as far as i remember a disc has to be closed before being accessible outside a PC. i'd do a google search on it to make sure but i think that's how it works re burn speeds - here's a thread for ya - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/211439
It didnt work. I jst finalised the cd and the stuff i added the 2nd time around to the dvd-r didnt show up. Oh well, i guess the lesson is stay clear of having to do a multisession disc.
http://www.computing.net/hardware/wwwboard/forum/36413.html - ah, that's you. i was just googling for more info..
Yeah, I'd say multisession is more hassle than the "advantage" of using it. My strategy, if I'm paranoid of losing stuff off the HD, is to copy stuff to a finalized DVD+RW or two. When I get a full DVDRs worth, burn a finalized permanent DVDR with the accumulated data. That way I've maximized the chance that I can read the stuff off the discs using another machine if I have to. Then I just use the DVD+RW discs over again.
Hey Kibz78 . Did you solved the problem ?? cos Im stuck here too ... I heard of some of my frieds , that , it is possible to do this , but the option "track at once" in burn option Nero should be enabled . And we need to use Dvd+R instead of Dvd-r .....
Nah, I still haven't been able to find a solution to this problem, ive given up on finding a solution, coz I think there isnt one. However, if you do find a way around it please let me know. At the mo, Im having to wait till i have enough film, tv shows so i can do it in one go. This is frustrating but what can u do. As for the Nero solution, Ive had a look at nero, and as you suggested u cant change the way it writes dvds/cds.
The Solution is to Not make Multi-session disks as most DivX/DVD players Can Not read Past the First session of a Multi-Session disk.... If I were you i would just save up your Files till you have enough to Fill a DVD and then Burn them to DVD.... Cheers
hi would making the discs as VR mode help the reading for dvd player? i say this as i read something recent here about another issue but the VR mode maybe a move forward?
