i used DVD Decrypter to copy the movie "Man Of The House" to my computer in .iso format. Then i used DVD Shrink to compress it to a managable size, but when I go to finish by burning the backup to a disk the computer locks up and restarts at random points. Im using a Sony 16x DVD+-R DL burner on Memorex dvd+r 16x disks, all brand new. Im copying at 6x (slowest speed it will allow). Is it just my computer? Should I reformat it? I've backed up other movies using DVDX Copy before, so now im at a loss and tired of making coasters.

Memorex are considered junk media at present time because they buy the blanks from companies the produce cheap/poor quality media and put the Memorex name on them. Although the media is probably crap, I don't think it would cause a freeze-up or restart. I would look towards a possible overheat problem or possibly a bad stick of memory. Check your system for spyware or adware that may be taxing your system resources while burning.

The problem is weird though. i can burn the .iso file onto a disc using Nero under a Data format. When i try to use it or any other program as a matter of fact to make a playable DVD it burns for 15-45 minutes then restarts. No overheating or other physical problems. I have the raw data so I will try and reformat the whole computer(needs it anyway). It strage though that I can copy anything else but can't write a movie.

Lovely program but it don't like my DVD and DVD RW drive setup. or copyrighted DVDs (what's the point then of having it like?)

I swear by Rytech purple dye DVDRs.
Inkjet printable surface for Pro results.
Used almost 100 of them so far, and NOT ONE has failed me (yet).

I have however had several F$%^-ups, but this was down to not using programs correctly.

Best tip:
Always read the instructions...

Unless you are male (like me) and stumble through a program wasting valuable DVDRs until you finally read the instructions and curse yourself for being such a tube in the first place.

I can't for the life of me figure out what you are trying to do? Your not helping with your off topic comments. In fact they are probably just confusing to the original poster. I reformatted my computer and now it is working, probably was a Spyware problem because anytime I'd try to run Spybot S&D it would crash out of the program (sorry i went off topic, it's my post anyway :) ). Thank you Jerry for your help and anyone else whose posts i have read. pfffft, who reads the directions
