I have two questions: 1.on the front of my dvd drive it says DVD+Recordable and DVD+R DL only does that mean that mean i can only use those ones and not DVD-R?becaues so far i used dvdsanata and even though there is a DVD-R in the drive it keeps saying to insert blank DVD! 2. My DVD writer can write at a speed of 16x so does that mean if it says '1x to 4x' or just '4x' on the cover of a dvd when im buying, i can use it on my dvd writer?
Most new burners can use either - or + format - It would be useful if you could provide make and model of your DVD drive. If you only have the + logos on your burner - it maybe a single format burner and cannot handle - format. It is not advisable to burn at high speed. Even is your specs state that it can burn at 16X - would recommend that you burn at 4X (reduces possibility of errors). You can use 1x to 4x or 8x media - your burner will adjust to the media used. Use good quality media (eg Ritek, Verbatim, TYs) for best results - Avoid brands such as Memorex, bullpak etc.
Appears to support both + and - formats. See link: http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/aopen_duw1608arr/
Hi, Go to www.aopen.com and see if they have an updated flash bios for this drive. I don't know how old this drive is but some drives do not support both +R and -R formats. Even though the drive is 16x, if you use 4x blanks it will normally burn at 4x. Some burning programs will allow you to burn faster. Check your burning program settings. If you can change the burning speed, I would recomend you try the next speed up from 4x and see what it does. The fact that this drive will burn Dual-Layer DVDs should mean that it is not too old. Hope this helps, Russ
