I love my E85H and have had no operation problems with it since May 05. However, the picture quality is awful. Am I missing something?

On dvd or hdd playback (and to a certain degree tv programs from the e85h), Human faces look like topo maps where the tan section are clearly segregated from the red hues. Not sure if this is a color issue or a resolution issue.

The unit has an amplifier (unplugged) on top of it. I bought a $25 set of "Gold" plated shielded connectors and use component (or is it composite) connection into a new Panasonic 42" plasma.

I get a busy signal evary time I call Panasonic. Even basic advise is appreciated.

    Thanks.

I'm assuming your new plasma TV is high definition. Your Panasonic isn't. Thus, the macro blocks in areas such as faces are more noticeable the lower the speed of your recording.

In addition, the Panasonic's output resolution is roughly half that of what your TV is capable of displaying, so the TV does the best it can to compensate by filling in "missing" video data (macro blocks are the result).

Until they come out with higher-resolution DVD recorders, macro blocks on high-definition sets is something we'll all have to put up with.
