hello all,for some strange reason my dvd burner stopped burning.First it would say power calibration error and now it wont burn dvds at all.Even when I use dvdshrink, and dvdxcopy, and Nero it cannot write to dvd.I can burn cds using cool cd burner but not with any other program. It reads dvds and cds just fine though. Its an NEC 6500a firmware

Have you burned anything to that media brand before? I have never heard of that disk Id before MJC ME ?? Sounds generic to me? I would try updating your firmware and or chnging your media brand to a more reputable brand like Verbatim, Fuji Film or Maxell NOT Memorex..

Your burner just isn't recognizing the media.

    Hi there,

If the NEC firmware didn't detect your drive, you probably have an OEM drive. Did it come part of a full PC ?

    Dell ? HP ? Gateway ?

They would hold the latest firmware !

i would still recommend you switch media brands...JVC is not very good to say the least...Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim would be my suggestion...i have that dvd-burner on my laptop as well, it's very picky w/ media~ :) good luck

Oops. Just seen it is a Dell drive. Probably none of these would work anyway.

    Sorry.
