Xbox won't softmod *stressed out*

    I'm sittin here, trying to softmod my Xbox, and I have read all tuts I can find, and they all tell me the same things. I follow them, but I can't do it right! I'm using the game MechAssault, and I deleted all previous saves from the Xbox (yes I deleted the whole thing, I didn't do it one by one). I then cold booted my Xbox, after saving "Run Linux" on it, opened "Run Linux" and it takes me directly to what I think might be the EvolutionX dashboard. Its blue and it says "EvolutionX" and its spinning. I am then given 3 choices: Reboot, Power Off, System Utils.
    In System Utils: Settings, Flash BIOS, Backup.
    There is nothing in Flash BIOS, and the settings just tell me the statistics of my Xbox; IP address, subnet mask, BIOS, RDTools... etc.
    I am seriously sOoOoOoOo confused... and yes, I am using the right version of MechAssault (the one that ends in 1L or something like that and not 8L).
    I really want to know if ANYONE and I mean ANYONE can help me.

    ok first off. if u dont know wat ur doing dont do it. softmodding is the easiest way to ruin ur xbox if u dont know wat ur doing. thats y i recommend getting a chip. secondly if ur trying to do a softmod, dont use the old installers. get the new ude or uxe witch autoinstalls in a matter of seconds. do some research on uxe and thatll solve ur problom.

    Is it possible... that [bold]maybe[/bold], it has already been installed, or somehow I got the ude/uxe that autoinstalls in a few seconds?????

    GET SID 2.0! (Softmod Installer Deluxe!) and follow this guide http://xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo1192.nfo then when it boots up hit Create MS backup as the forst thing u do! i just modded mine a week ago and love it ive even takin a xbox back that had a softmod on it but uninstalled it all before hand <btw the xbox was just messing up b4 the mod it scracthed EA sports games lol> follow that guide its the best one ive seen dont mess with all the other stuff get one that has a backup feature!

    It was the program I was using, I just softmodded my xbox and it has evox on it, I'm gonna start modding now... well... not in matchmaking. Thnx for the help guys.

    P.S. All the programs have a "backup" feature on them. lol
