I have downloaded a movie from Kazaa but get only a black screen in Windows Media Player but the audio is okay. Why is there no picture please?

Try checking out the video codec used in the file with AVI FourCC Code Changer:
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/avifourcc.html

Don't change it. What does it say the current codec is?

You don't have the correct codec installed, you can dowload the nimmo codec pack under the tools section on vcdhelp.com.
