i went and got the dvd 05 model from walmart took back the dvd 04 i have cause it would never let me use any blank dvd disk i have got why did the dvd 05 work but the dvd 04 would never let me use the same blank disks
The R04 is a little finicky about the discs it uses. Also, if the firmware wasn't up to date, it could make a difference in the media it was compatible with. New firmware helps the drive properly use newer media as it becomes available. Most are trying to get the R04 over the R05 since the R04 can be hacked for an extra 3-hour record mode, Macrovision bypass and region free setting. The R05 can not.
