Please help! Newbie on NeroVision Express 3-
I am having MAJOR problems trying to edit my home videos.
    The Facts:
    Using Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.6.0.15 -
editing a home video with NeroVision Express 3.1.0.14.
    I have Windows XP - DirectX 9c-
I have a Pinnacle capture card (but from what I understand doesn't matter here since I am using firewire to upload and save footage from my dv cam to my hard drive- and I am not working with analog)
I have downloaded all recent upgrades on Nero site- (on 08-01-05)
Updated my Intel graphic card (which from what HP says is my video card)
I modified my PC display settings.
    OK now my problem:
The AVI files I add to my project during edit are out of sync (audio plays fine but video freezes, pauses - doesn't stop completely just stutters behind the audio- i think some refer to this as "hangs")
I have captured footage from my DV cam using a firewire connection- the video footage has been saved to my PC in a avi file. When I add this avi file- or any other avi files that were previously saved on my hard drive (no matter what size it is) it seems to play back abnormally in the playback (edit) screen. NOte: I only have problems playing these AVI files in Nero- they work fine in other programs (Windows Media Player and my previous editing software Pinnacle Studio 9) I have added other files to my project(mpg- wmv) and noticed that they play fine in NVE3. I only have this problem with my avi files (captured dv footage) So needless to say... I decided to convert my avi files to wmv files (using Convert Movie 1.1-downloaded trial version on net) and they now play back fine BUT now the quality sucks! I find it very hard to believe that Nero only has the ability to capture video in AVI format(per their website this is not optional) but then has issues when you try to playback and or edit this footage.
I have been trying to resolve this for a week straight and I am ready to give up - and go back to using my Pinnacle Studio 9 -
I need to find the best way to get my footage from my dv camera to edit in Nero without any hanging or out sync issues.
I don't mind the extra step of converting the files in another program- but I can't use this option if it means I lose quality.

Someone please help! I am desperate.
I have searched all over and I can't find an answer that has worked for me. I think I am just missing something. - Please keep in my mind that it took me all day just to figure out what my video card was and how to update it.- and I still have my doubts that I did that right.
Per HP it came with my PC it is : Intel R 82845g Graphics Controller.
If you have any suggestions for me- please please break it down to me in "for dummies" terminology :)
    Thanks.

Use DVIO to capture your video or the simplest that I use allot is Windows Movie maker to capture the video. I sell the video that I make so it is good quality. ( and no it is not porn )

I have been having exactly the same problem since installing the Nero Update in July. I reported the problem to Nero. They have issued the August 05 update and it still does the same, NeroExpress will not play back AVI files in the edit window. I have uploaded info to them, uninstalled all other "burner" software, reinstalled and am really frustrated. It seems that every DVD editing package out there has problems or lacks features that you want. I reinstalled the previous Nero Express 2.x and it will play the AVI files, but it does not have many of the new features that the new version has. Any if you have any projects done in 3, then they will not work in the older 2.
