I have tried to post this in the playback forums but hopefully I will get a better response here. I have some Anime fansubs that I want to burn to DVD. I think they are .avi file. When I burn them the picture and sound is fine but the subtitles get cutoff. I was checking the boards and everyone says use TmpgEnc. I got the TmlgEnc express. However it says it can only open the audio and not the video. Could someone guide me down the right path?
Oh I have tried to encode it 4:3 and 16:9. The only difference is that when I use 16:9 I get black bars on the left and right sides of my screen instead of the top and bottom.

How do the subs get cut-off? At the bottome or the sides? Anyway, have you tried using VirtualDub that or VirtualDubMod to resize it? I had to do that awhile back when my Ghost in the Shell SAC subs were being cut-off at the bottom. I knew it was my TV, I was VCDing them. It was a pain in the ass though.

Thanks for the reply. They are getting cut off at the bottom. I have tried several different DVD players and several different TV's. I will check out the program you suggested thanks.

Did you try both Vdub or VdubMod? If so what was the error message? Then what file is it, you said it was AVI but weren't sure? Give me those answers and I'll see what I can't do for you.

Thanks for your help. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I used Avi codec to identify the file it says AVI file type Video : 156 MB, 952 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 640*480 (4:3), DIV3 = DivX v3 ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), Supported. I hope this is enough info. I have several files like this and when I drag them into Vision express they burn fine but the subtitles are cut off.
