@magillag - - EDIT OUT your serial number ASAP - firmware appears to be up to date - hmmmm, i'd suspect dodgy media - hmmm... i suspect FAKE TY Discs. what do the discs say on the top (Pls don't say Bulkpaq, if so, see 1st page of both links in my signature). one way to verify if they're genuine or not is to quote the code numbers around the inner hun. paste them here... - splat! - try uninstalling Roxio software, and using Roxio Zapper from here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/141054 to fully uninstall Roxio. it doesn't always play well with Nero..
Had already tried DVD Shrink and got the same error. Thanks for the serial warning. I got it out at the top, but didn't notice it half way through again. Number on inner hub of DVD is 0L11MH0405282128G. Never reinstalled Roxio after reformatting the hard drive last time. Went right to Nero. Why do you suggest a Roxio uninstall?
...cus Roxio it doesn't always play well with Nero. as to the inner hub numbers, is that the only number there, you sure there's no other numbers there ?. if these are indeed fake TYG02 discs that would probably explain the problem here..
Other numbers on hub are R8XDD19 & 8021. These are mirror imaged on the second ring. Burning worked fine on the last batch of TDK disks except for some would not work in one of my DVD palyers but fine in the other player. Couldn't figure that one out? Thanks for all your help! @magillag - those don't sound like genuine TY to me. mine have the codes GG000107 near the inner ring. Yours unfortunately don't seem to sound anything similar to genuine TY. to find out more about the TDK, download dvdinfopro (free from www.dvdinfopro.com) and run a TDK (or more than one if you have different types/speeds), thru it's media info check, pasting the results here. ps this is why checking certain media's media codes on their own is not sufficient to prove discs' authenticity. i've only recently been upped to Addict, been helping out around here 8mths
