Is TMPGenc compatible with WIN XP??not mentionned in download page....

I am a new DV user and have managed to get the AVI files on the PC with NewSoft Presto Videoworks but cannot convert them to MPEG 1,2.(which i want to do as don't want to save to much to my HD and want it all kept on CD)
I was told that Pinnacle studio can do this and others told me to download TPMGenc.

next problem is cd writer:I have roxio easy CD Creator but OBVIOUSLY not the platinum version.someone advised me to get NERO 5.5.5.6 instead of upgrading to Roxio Platinum as apparently roxio doesn't convert to MPEG2 whereas TPMGenc does MPEG1 and 2. is this true?
