i am trying to backup a collection of data (about 130000 files at approx 2.4gb)onto DVD using nero, i can get to the bit where you hit burn. after that approx 4 seconds later it freezes while trying to sort files.. there are no messages at the top like burn process started etc. i then have to control, alt , del and shut it down then when i try to re-open it i get this message 'another application is currently using the windows burning engine (IMAPI) Please quit the other application and start nero again' this is confusing as there are no other programmes working. it seems to do other stuff still just not this collection are there any freeware burning programmes i can try
i think this tickbox could be the cause of the problem - http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y178/creaky/untickcdrecordinginXP.jpg also, your Nero log is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log
thanks, managed to sort it out... it froze (or appeared to freeze on 4-5 seconds).. i got so peeve at ctl alt del and reboot that i just left it and went out.. when i came back it was asking for a disk.. so i started it again and sat there, it got to 4 seconds and froze, so i sat there and sat there then after about 8 minutes the time on nero suddenly jumped to 8:09 and it continued. guess patience is a virtue.. just its never done that before for any disks ive backed up. usually 2-3 seconds and its sorted the files and starts burning. thanks for input though.
