Ok I'm using nero because my other authoring program won't open avi files which is dumb, but anyways I only want to add one video clip that is about an hour or so. I make chapters for it and then i proceed to the menus. The problem is that it only makes one menu that has all of the chapters on it well seperate pages but same menu. What i want is a main menu and then a seperate menu for the chapters. What do i have to do to make it do this. I can add the clip twice and then it makes a main menu and another menu but then its to long for the cd and i don't want it on there twice anyways. I figure it has something to do with that though. Hopefully someone knows how to do this.

You can't do this with NeroVision Express. You need something like DVD Lab. NVE will just let you have the one main menu. It is a basic editing/authoring program. What you want to do is a bit more advanced.

Ok thanks for letting me know. Oh one more thing with other software is it possible to set up the menus so you select words instead of a picture of the video like it is in professional dvds they have play, scene selection, special features etc?

DVD Lab can do that. You can use text or images as menu links.

It will give you many more options than NVE and will take a bit of practice. It makes very good menus though. I have the standard version which works fine for my small projects.

You will need to convert your .avi into a mpg for DVD Lab. It is limited on what it can use. NVE should work for that though. I use TMPGEnc 2.5 for my conversions.

Here is the basic DVD Lab overview:

There is a 30 day free trial.
