Help needed trying to burn backup DVD: Error log posted

I'm trying to back up a DVD I have, but I am running into problems. I used DVDDecrypter, followed by DVDShrink. To the highest compression, it was still to large for a normal 4.7GB disc. So I bought some DVD+R DLs and looked to back it up uncompressed. But I'm getting an errors. Don't know what it could be besides media maybe. Here's the log. Any ideas? I appreciate it:

I'm not too good with logs, but since you have DL disc's have you tried using DvdDecryptor, Iso-read then Iso-Write. That should work, what movie are you trying to back up? Also does your drive support the dl disc's, I think the logs says it does, but then again I'm not too good at it.

Thanks about the serial #. It's changed. Where can I find info on using ISO Read/Write? Is this just Decryptor's way to create an ISO image? I'm trying to backup a Speed Racer DVD I bought a few years ago.

needs to be ON!

if using a dual layer disc backup 1 to 1 get dvd decrypter to make an .MDS file too this file carries the layer break info! then load the mds file not the iso!

 

Can someone explain the mds file a little further?

the MDS file is a tiny small text type file of say 1kb, but it reads the layer break info of original dvd so it can break at same piont when it copys it to a dual layer dvdr

you should have the big iso + mds files, load the mds for a 1 to 1 copy

So when it is time to burn, do I burn the mds to the DVD first, then the ISO right after? I'm still a little confused.

You only need to back up the "MDS" file - no need to back up the ISO once you're done with the MDS file. I strongly believe that if you have the latest from DVD Decrypter (version 3.5.4.0) and you accidently picked the ISO file to burn, DVD Decrypter will say "you should have selected the MDS file instead of this one", just click OK and it will automatically grab the MDS file for you.

 

So tell me, creaky. Will updating Nero allow me to backup my file without having to use the mds process rotary outlined? Or is it just a prelude?

 

You choose the MDS file only when you wanted to burn using DVD Decrypter. Nero is another story -- and yes... updating Nero to the latest 6.6.0.16 is good, it will recognize your dvd burner and dvd rom drives better. Updating is good, it's like you're staying on par with the latest technology.

Just a side note here, when it comes to backing up dvd movies your dvd burner's firmware and DMA is a big factor that play in this role. DMA is a must be "on", and firmware "needs" to be current to recognize the current media and it's codes.

The main thing is that your dma is turned off you have got to uninstall your driver for your burner then restart your p.c. and let windows reinstall the driver this should get you up and running.

As far as nero you should get that updated pretty soon also I think this is the reason for the odd-ball disk/recorder recognition that creaky was reffering to

in decrypter just select the mds as this is just a set of instructions that tells your burning app what to burn and where!

I am checking on your drive to see if it capable of the dl burns

Yea. I was concern with that but Decrypter told me the max was at 2.4.

I uninstalled the driver before trying the burn. How can I tell if DMA is on?
